For all of you bagging on Rafer's distributing skills, remember that over half of our offense is facilitated by TMac. Rafer's assists went up in all the games without TMac.

i dont know why people bash hinrich...........

he can play and would boost us at point............

the only knock on him is his contract....not his ability....hes a high bball iq guy .......who plays decent d......and can hit wide open jumpers at a consistent clip.......what more do u want

do we want that contract is the question....not if he is a upgrade over rafe......IMO

    Defense is a vital part..

I like Hinrich, hes a smart player and hes been playing on a team with NO post game, Id like to see how he can do with Yao in the post with Tmac in the wing. Wouldnt mind a Brooks+2nd round pick(Grizzlies) trade

The Lakers had 3 stars and still couldn't win a title. The Celtics had 3 and won it. Who is this third star on the Rockets? I fail to see this player.

i have......thats the point........hes a very good point guard IMO.....

i have watched him in chicago..........hes is smart and he can shoot the rock.........thats not a weakness from him.......

the only thing is his contract and do we want to commit to that amount for him

he may be overpaid a little.......but he is not lackin in the skills that the rocks could use at the point.........period.......

if he was shootin the same open looks that rafer gets....man we would be rollin....and he has high bball iq so he also passes well..........

Apparently DrNuegebauer slept during the 1st Round of the Playoffs last year when Mike Bibby's carcass had to be removed from the basketball court. He's a shell of his former self.

I'd be fine with acquiring Hinrich as long as we could send Rafer's contract back to Chicago in the deal.

i realize this idea won't be very popular due to doubts about his health...

but i am hoping steve francis solves this PG problem.

he can do it. if his body will let him.

he doesn't have to be the old 'franchise,' just an occasional scorer who attacks the rim, draws the defense, and hits the 3. he can defend too.

if he rehabs well, he could potentially fill-in ALL of the rockets backcourt holes.

    *holding breath*

    Wishful Thinking!!!

I doubt it very much that he'll ever solve the team's PG problem. I just know that he is a guy you can not count on to handle the team's PG duties due to his low basketball IQ.

It is possible that Steve Francis might not be in the team's plans for next season since the team had most of its success without him last season.

Well theres a reason that Adelman started Alston instead of Francis and James and Brooks. He is a cable floor leader, hes not a greater 3 point shooter but if you compare Alson to Paul, the difference i see is the alley oops and Pauls ability to take the ball in the hole. paul gets around 1 ally a game and 2-3 transition 3 and 2-3 transition lay up thats like 5-6 assists already.he averages 11 assists minus the 5-6 assist then u have paul average the same as ralfer. u never see a PG average over 8 assists on a bad team, because in order to get an assist ur teammates needs to make the shot. now lets look at the assists Alson gets, he doesnt get the 2-3 transition 3s from his teammates and rarely he gets assist from fast break because the rockets doesnt fast break that much. so that means Alston gets his assist mainly by moving the ball around on a half court offense, and looking for the open man on offense.
pg is not a problem on this team, the main problem is health, and more athelectism which means att the basket and more offense rebound hustling.

Steve Francis couldn't solve the PG problem when he was athletically dominant over whomever opposed him.

At his peal Francis was an undersized scoring guard who causes opponents many problems and could sometimes win games for you by himself. But without that atheticism, he isn't a quality NBA player, let alone a quality NBA point guard.

The Francis days (as a significant player) are long over.

I would prefer to have both. Besides, unless it is a 3 way (Alston would a tremendous back up for Boston) Chicago isn't going to want a PG back.

Hinrich is the only PG I can think of who I would start over Alston and might be able to be acquired without costing us a starter.

But I am also fine with Alston as a starter and trading B Jax for a better veteran (Watson? Ridnour + pick) or trading Brooks + pick for a slightly stronger prospect (Lowry, Crittenton?).

I am OK to be patient with the PG spot however (Brooks will be a soph, and played better late). Certainly not desperate and I don't see anyone in the FA market to consider (except Barry taking on some PG duties on occasion).

You are seriously delusional if you don't think PG is a problem on this team.

I wouldn't call it a problem. I would call it a weakness. Something we would like to improve (better starter or better quality depth), but nor do we have to be desperate with Alston, 2nd year Brooks, vet under 1 year more contract B Jax.

Personally I think backup swingman is a greater, more pressing, problem. Barry for the LLE would be nice because he adds depth to both areas.
