That quote about Eddie Griffin is priceless, made me smile. Ah well, the "old man" likely will be elsewhere next season anyway.
I hear that old men are really stingy with the weed because it's so expensive now...Come on Eddie, pass to Yao on the left hand side!
I wouldn't be so quick to get rid of Eddie. I think he can be a 15-10 guy easily as soon as he develops.
i agree 100%. i think people forget that eddie griffin is only 20 years old. he would be a college junior right now! so when we talk of "developing" his game, we need to keep some perspective.
is it just me, or does anyone else wish that these words had come out of steve francis' mouth instead?
IIRC Rudy T said they did *NOT* want to utilize those guys after that post All Star LA Lakers game at the Summit. Too proud to admit they needed help.
I think Hakeem will most definitely coach Yao Ming in the very near future. I can't remember where I heard it, but I know I rememebr someone saying a major holdup of Hakeem coaching Yao is that Hakeem was bound by his contract with the Raptors. Either way, it would be good to have anyone like that coach Yao Ming. I think Yao has only played in the NBA for ONE season on ONE team. We can spare him, and just assume that he doesn't know how good the NBA is quite yet.
GOD. NO WONDER. Kelvin Cato taught him how to play!!!!! HOW COME CATO NEVER TAUGHT GRIFFIN HOW TO POSITION HIMSELF ON DEFENSE? Man...Eddie's old cuz he doesn't talk. That doesn't make much sense. Old people love to talk. Eddie is just screwed. I guess Yao doesn't care much about him smoking mar1juana. Yao...lol...very good journal. Thanks Verse! It's funny...he said Rudy's leave was why they didn't make the playoffs. WHICH MEANS LARRY SMITH DID A BAD JOB. Oh well. . .
But old people are less energetic. I think that was the point. Pot heads are less energetic when you think about it, ma, we aint doin anything in here, put that thing out. Good interview. Very positive. Yao owes it all to Cato. What if that turns out to be true. That contract doesn't look so bad now. Cato would have earned his money. When you think about it, if Yao adds Catos' game to his own he becomes the complete player we all would like him to be. odd.
I hate to say it but this letter is a little to flowery. Yao would never criticize a teammate or the coach. Think about it. Everything is to politically correct in his statements. How many people do you think looked over his draft before the letter was published? Although, I agree with some of Yao's comments such as the biggest problem is getting used to other players. I do believe that One year is enough time to adjust. Sure, it might not be perfect, but you would like to see more improvement then what was displayed in the games. In regards to the ROY, congrats to Amare. He worked hard and made huge contributions this season for the Suns. Having said this, I still think Yao was the more dominating player and as we all know the most dominating player doesn't always get the prize. For example, Shaq should win MVP every year but is often over looked.
If you talk to Yao, you will be surprised to know his real English level. In fact, this is one of the biggest misconceptions people have about Yao. He has been studying Enlish for the past 4 years to get ready for NBA. The things he does not know is slangs. This is why Colin is always around. Since joining Rockets, he picked up quite a few from Rudy I think.
A quote from the Dynasty (Steve Franchise)... We will make the playoffs next year, this is a guarantee. It's a shame that No.11 doesn't make this guarantee.
eddie's too stoned to talk! the off-handed/implied "complaint" about larry smith as a coach is the first negative thing i've heard him say all season. not a real surprise when your minutes get reduced massively when the team's in the playoff hunt & the individual in the ROY race. there seems to be a direct correlation between our (then) playoff spot, ROY race & yao's minutes... when LS reduced the minutes, the other 2 (hopefully only 1 & he still gets ROY) went down the drain.
I freaking love this guy. He says exactly what he's supposed to say, he understands the game, he knows what he needs to work on and has the work ethic to do it. He has "cornerstone" writtin all over him.
Ming's diary in Chinese is more fluent, accurate and humor. The translation is OK but not good, somtimes cause misunderstanding. A lot of meaning is lost. I just wonder why Rockets can't get a good translator as the diary is so important.
