Maybe you can use your hypothetical "heroics" at a basketball game as your personal essay on the application to Rice. Mention something about your personal growth following the second or third "bows." ... For the original poster, your situation sounds like the Center failed to provide adequate security -- almost negligent. University (Windmill Quixotic) Blue
Hardeji your absolutely right in your actions. The way Toyota center handled the situation was totally unacceptable. The only fault I found was that you allowed these people on this board to get to you which you should not have done. Although I dont have the money to buy the tickets I want to (being a college student in debt) to people who do have the funds all I have to say is, congratulations, I'll be there next to you in the future. Sometimes there is so much ignorance displayed on this BBS I dont know whether to get upset or laugh, and I seriously doubt that I am the only one who feels this way.
Nice post Hardeji - a real man knows when not to get in a fight because he knows the consequences. It's a shame that the ushers/security did nothing.
Well said, hardeji. *applauds* Civilized, well adjusted human beings - 1 Wussies acting tough while hiding behind the internet - 0 Game, set, match.
ah, that's nothin. i can shoot laserbeams from my eyeballs and lift cars with one hand. but hey, im with you though- i use my powers for GOOD, not EVIL.
You are missing the point. You do it all the time? You shout "i'm gonna f**king kill you!" to somebody everytime? People aren't supposed to be expected to defend for their lives in a ball game. You pay to watch a game comfortably, including the services of security guards. And him being rich is not his fault nor a crime, tough kid.
I hate the attendants. I once tried to move down alittle closer and well it didnt go to well. I was already on the bottom part. I had paid over 60$ for my decent seats. Anyway i try and go down to get a closer look at the game cus the goal was infront of me and it was hard to see what was happening on the other side.It was about 6 rows down and hell the seats that I tried to sit on were actually the same price!!!! it was the 3rd quarter and no one was in them the whoooolllleee game. When i moved down this stupid attendant who loves their job waaaaaayyy too much told me to go back to my seats. I tried to tell them hey i payed the same price as everyone in this section and all i want to do is get a better look at the game, well that stupid usher told me to go back. I was soooo pissed. I mean I guess now I can see why that is the only job people like that can scrape up. Some people are just ignorant and dont give a $hit about anyone.
One last thing, then let's close this thread... I paid the same $ last year for the seats and they're not as good... I think that all comparable seats seem about 25' to 30' FARTHER from the court (compared to the 'ol Summit).
is it just me or does anyone else realize that you cant control those around you and the way you choose to react to a situation is just that- a personal choice. ignoring is a choice. confronting is a choice. getting annoyed is a choice. reacting is a choice. you can only control yourself. what you see as harmful to your own self depends greatly upon your self image, how much pride you have.
hey hardeji, I think i saw the altercation in the front of the arena after the game... Was the guy asking you to step outside and that "he would hold the door for you?" If it was , i was the guy yelling out "Security, Security...2 drunk white guys about to face off!!! Neutralize the Situation IMMEDIATELY!!"... Then was it you that got all ready to fight AFTER the security staff got there, but when they weren't there you were hiding behind your wife..????? Funny ...
My rich white friend took me to the game Sunday night and paid for dinner at the Red & White restaurant where the meals where close to $40 dollars a person. So anyway, he ordered a cappucino and it didn't come with a biscotti!!!! You would assume that at such an expensive meal my friend could have cookie with his coffee. And while we're on the subject of complaints about Sunday night: yelling is good, but cussing is bad. The children are our future.
haha, well said. i try to move down all the time......its jus gay when u move down and find awesome seats, the people who own them come back during halftime.......fun while it lasted......
