Lowry is really starter,he has better court vision than Aron with high IQ, he is strong enough to defend his counterpart. I like his play very much.
Lowry has many positive things before the tonight games. One thing that Lowry needs to do is to play two men game just like Kidd and Dirk, he did a good job with Scola before, but not much with Yao since he is not a starter. You look at the great teams in NBA, most of them play two men game in the end, our coach just does not understand it, all he can talk are the ball movement.
That's the one thing that gets me. This guy plays with composure and poise but where did he get it from? Not coming off the bench with the Grizzlies. This guy is a natural. He has a lot of room to develop also. I also think that Lowry is the right point guard to have on the floor when Yao is playing. Things seem to run more effectively. I think brooks should be on the floor with the run and gun team (Wafer, Landry, etc).
well hate to say it but if phoenix is still looking to cut costs, id ship brooks + artest for nash in the offseason
Aaron brooks has so much potential.. Why does he look so indecisive on the offensive end? I'm simply shocked at how poorly he's been playing lately.. Harder cuts, more decisive passes and shots, and this kid is Tony Parker.. Why do you guys feel he is being indecisive? Bad coaching??
since i was dropping the lowry knowledge on the other thread, id thought id answer the question on here about where did kyle get so basketball saavy. it was in college at villanova. Nova is arguably the most guard laden school in the country the past ten years. make no mistake jay wright knows wht hes doing there esp when it comes to guard play. after his sophmore season, wright called lowry "the smartest player hes ever coached. period."... now thats something to take notice of..
It seems like Lowry was built for playoff basketball. I really have a feeling that if the Grizzlies were at all relevant over the past 3 seasons, and somehow made it into the post-season, we would have seen a lot more of this kid. He's got a toughness and tenacity about him that will go a long way in the playoffs. The one thing this Rockets team has SORELY missed over the past 2 seasons was someone who could consistently attack the basket, and not be afraid to draw hard contact. Now, it seems like we have 3 (maybe even 4, if you count Scola) of those players in Lowry, Wafer, and Landry. I really expect to see Lowry get the lion's share of the minutes at PG this series....we might see AB play the 2 a little bit, but Lowry will be the one setting up the offense.
He'll be the starter next year and should really flourish when/if we acquire a legit perimeter threat for him to play alongside.
I really HATE ABrooks, he cost us a vital game last night. Rockets were up by 14, AB thought it is ok to play some of him game. Both Yao and Shane said repeatly we dont execute game plan well.
Just to emphasise the point that Brooks is shoot-first, what's the most assists he's gotten in the last few games? Like 2 or 3?
In 2nd half vs Dallas, Brooks played 10 minutes, +/- = -4. Lowery played 15 minutes, +/-= -17. How did Brooks cost the game when he was on the bench in the 4th quarter?
Rockets lost the control at 3rd quarter. Lowery built the lead along with Yao at 2nd quarter, that is why lowery's overll +/- is -2. 3rd quarter, when rockets has the 14 pts lead, and Yao is hot, ab (+/- = -11)came in and did a poor job at running the game, and Yao got 4 fouls. lowery did quite well attack the rim at 4th quarter, but it is too late, rockets were out of rhythm. Confused? Did you actually watch the game? I give you a clue, just look at the title of this thread
That's obvious and will not happen in the playoffs. (Next year, different story.) Since, RA will not pull AB out as a starter, AB must realize there's more to the game then just his shot if its not falling that night. I've noticed in games where he's not making his shot, he just disappears. He's there but not into the game. This team goes where Yao leads us, however if the PG is in control of the offense and is pulling magic acts, that's not good for us if RA isn't playing Kyle heavy minutes.
I agree, the momentum changed after Brooks got into the game the 3rd quarter. Yao went out of sync when Brooks does his shoot first PG thing.. As I mentioned in many threads earlier, Brooks is a good player, but he is not a starter material, at least not with a team that has Yao as a center piece. For the benefit of the team, Rick should just start Lowry in the playoff and let Brooks come off the bench. I understand it's hard for Rick to make such decision because he was the one who really "drafted/recommended" Brooks...
This thread is ridiculous. Lowry was OK yesterday, but he is ineffective with the starters. Lowry plays his best in a fast paced full court type of game. WHo in the starting lineup is going to run the court with him???????? Despite how good he is at driving the hoop in the open court, he is bad at doing in the halfcourt. Since he cant shoot, this makes him pretty useless in a half court slow down game which is the style Houston's starters play. This is why he should stay on the Bench. There are definitley days where he should play more than Brooks, but yesterday Brooks should have been in the game more yesterday down the stretch because the game turned into a halfcourt game which is where Lowry is pretty useless. Especially since Lowry wasn't doing anything to slow down Terry. Also its not like Lowry (WHO PLAYED THE WHOLE 4TH QUARTER) is a magical weapon against the fronting defense. Just like Brooks, Lowry couldnt get the ball to Yao either.
Brooks should be good against the Blazers. Its the best possible matchup for him. Plus, he'll be playing most games back in Oregon. Everything is set up for him to have a good series.
