True, you can be conservative, smart and well read.

One can be liberal and have conservative friends.

I was just pointing out to Amel that all Americans were not dumb enough to have ever supported Bush and lot of his now debunked conservative bs.

OK, but look at Cindy Sheehan and the Gold Star Mothers they may not cuss as much, but we know that they basically feel the same way. A lot of mothers and spouses feel like a lot of other Americans that we just wasted our folks lives for no "noble case" to quote Dubya.

People that come here and complain about the average US person not caring about other countries are misunderstanding as to why.

The US is surrounded by only Canada (Us Light) and Mexico, in Europe there is another country only a couple hundred miles away....over here, it is more than likely thousands of miles away.

So the average American is hardly impacted by other countries, while elsewhere in the world that is not the case.

    Especially Europe.

I wouldn't say that, but it still amazes me that a man with his qualifications or lack of could have ever been president.

now even some of his decisions as govenor are falling apart like increasing the size of the Texas Youth Commission to fast and leaving it run by unqualified people. Unqualified seems to be the theme.

It does mater if it is a real letter or not. But your statement assumes it is a real letter. In that light you belittle this person's reasons for joining the military, and completely dismiss their suffering. This makes it irrelevant to me whether it is real or not. What is important is your perfidy.

You show an approval of sending people to die in a war you support, but a general contempt for their suffering and concerns. You spit on them. You sneer at them, while happily letting them sacrifice their lives and body parts for you.

Make whatever you want out of it. I don't care. I will think of this every time I read one of your nonsensical rambling "pro-life" manifestos, and remember how much you valued this one life.

In the el Salvador elections of O4,U.S Republicans did not hesitate to "advise" on the dangers that would occur if the Left should win.Knowing that a large portion of ES' economy is based on money sent from families via Western Union, the ambassador to ES spoke on deporting families living in the US :(.The neo-cons went above and beyond in the funding of arenas' campaign. Two weeks later after the elections, the ambassador said he would have welcomed either Party winning the election  Very Shady.

At least they've kept their promise on cleaning up the streets from the MS13 and "calle Ocho" gangs, which have become a threat to the entire commonwealth, both rich and poor. But our currency is the dollar, inflation is at it's all time high, and we are even fighting in 'Irak'

BTW I didn't get any emails.I've yet to figure how the messaging works on here (blushes)...my email is Berkleemusician81@hotmail.com

Post Data to all:sorry for derailing the thread.

I could look it up, but did the conservatives win since the US was puttiing so much pressure on to help them win.? The US/conservatives lost in Nicaragua as Ortega won, but of course he has become much more pragmatic and even some say corrupt. I still viewed Ortega as at least the lesser of two evils.

I've had a theory that socialistic politics lead to insanity. While this certainly doesn't confirm it, it could be used as evidence.

Why not tell them to work and make it better instead of turning your backs on them.

This country was founded by immigrants and for the most parts those immigrants had a hard time adjusting to here whether it be the Jamestown colonists or Hmong refugees. They stayed here and built this country even though they faced poverty, bigotry and a strange culture. In spite of the of many who thought that they should go back to where they came from the spirit and diverstity of those immigrants who came here is what made it so great.

Put then again if you want to tell them America, love it or leave it, perhaps you should talk to the Native Americans who would be happy if a lot more people took that advice.

Good post Sishir. All our famililies came as immigrants. Most of our forbearers were poor. That is why they came here. Many were liberals or trouble makers in their home countries. They sure were not contented or conservatives.

Our forebearers fought the rich guys in this country to somewhat of a standstill and therebye created the middle class, which has been dwindling since the Reagan-Bush I and II era.

The wealthy have been very effective in the last 25 years fighting for their class with a combination of conservative media and a brand of alleged Christianity of a form that emphasizes a particular form of Bible reading and personal virtue devoid of effective real world concern for the poor and lower middle class. This has enabled the taxes and relative wages payed by the rich to be lowered increasing their share of the national wealth to near record levels. Many such well- off actually view their increased wealth as a sign of God's approval.
