i didn't used to, but in some recent instances some folks have made comments about my kids, and that crossed a line. otherwise, that's what ignore is for, should one choose to use it.

I haven't reported a post since Southern Select said he wished I'd been killed by the taxi that hit me. Of course, no action was taken in response to that report. I probably haven't reported basso for at least three years. And the last time I did it was for being insulting on a level that no one else here has ever aspired to. I call people "asses" or "idiots" but that's nothing next to saying someone wants to kill babies or American soldiers. Y'all can ban me if you want. I honestly don't care. But the fact that basso (or Southern Select) is still allowed to post here is clear proof that the mods couldn't care less about trolls or insults.
None of these differences of opinion and petty name-callings are anything that can't be sorted out like men at the Clutchfans Fight Cl... I mean, Pick-Up Basketball Games.

Either that or there is actually a genuine difference between telling someone they hate special needs kids because they disapprove of Sarah Palin (someone that happens to have a special needs brother, btw) and the person who's been told that calling the teller an "*******." This is how far off the backslapping cadre myth is: Last month I was neg repped by a mod (with a note saying "Come on Batman") for a post that simply said, "You are an ass." My post was in response to basso's suggestion that a random white kid being murdered by blacks in a robbery should have gotten the James Byrd treatment. There's not a person on this board that didn't think basso was being an ass (and a racebaiter) with that thread, but I got tagged with neg rep for saying so. That, after Southern Select skates by when he calls for my death -- in the Hangout. 99% of basso's threads are 100% intended to provoke fights. I've been banned three times for saying something like "you're an idiot." basso's been banned never. The idea that the mods have a liberal bias or even behave even-handedly when they randomly choose to look in on the D&D is complete BS. Jeff's OP in here, basically equating my crossing of lines with basso's is BS too. Even if I felt like reporting a post now I wouldn't waste my time.
In fairness there was that one time Jeff banned basso but somehow he talked his way back in. Since that time he has virtually ignored all modicum of civility and has posted with impunity the vile nonsense he posts.
I think you're taking things too personally BJ. Southern Select is Mr. Meowgi, we all know that (Shovel Face too). Don't know exactly what happened to him, used to be a decent poster... now he's a bitter troll. The gist of what Jeff is saying (to me anyway) is that the D&D's purpose was sorely to sort out all the venom that was corroding the hangout, and there really is no "fair" way any of it can be policed. We all know the cliques that formed that rule the D&D with their acerbic wit belong to the liberal persuasion, which leaves a few conservatives who chose to banter back and forth with them. It is a natural yin and yang. With no basso... this forum is one complete hippie circle jerk. So there is a balance to be found I would wager. However, basso knows what he's doing, but he abides by a certain code of conduct, whereas when his motives come into question he does nothing but cry victim and attempt to provoke insults. I think basso is an ok guy in real life, just has been forced to resort to some shady tactics to combat the Internet Tough Guys who throw their weight around in here. basso is a product of the environment. If it bothers you so much, I would suggest ignoring it.
the funny/sad thing is that Batman (and mark) and i have actually shared a cocktail or two together. things seemed to have gone downhill rather rapidly after that however.
