A Note About Insults, Reported Posts and the D&D

    I get reported posts (many of them having to do with a limited number of posters) and I just wanted to clear up a few things in the D&D from my perspective only - not that of Clutch or anyone else.

    Recently, Batman Jones and basso got into over the nature of an insult in here. Batman is overt about his insults, but only posts them sporadically as his temper gets the best of him and when he isn't involved with the real world. Basso, on the other hand, is subtle, yet pervasive, but let me clear something up.

    MAKE NO MISTAKE, basso is a really REALLY insulting poster - one of the worst ever on this board. If it weren't for the fact that this forum is basically a free-for-all, he would have LONG been banned and probably never allowed back in.

    In many ways, the D&D is like a playpen at day care. We just throw a bunch of screaming children in a room with toys and hope they get distracted by each other enough so as to leave the adults alone. My advice to everyone here is to realize this fact and try not to take it personally.

    This doesn't mean you shouldn't alert moderators when things get really bad. If nothing else, one of us will take 5 minutes and come in here to remind you that you probably need to put your big kid pants on and stop behaving like 3-year-olds. Occasionally, someone will get banned when it is really out of hand.

    But, the reality is that no one really cares about any of your opinions but you and this little forum is like a time out from real life and the rest of us who just want you to leave us alone.

    The most annoying part about it, to me, is when someone that is being insulting subtly (or overtly) acts like a victim when someone insults him. It's like constantly jabbing at someone and when they say "Stop that, #$&hole!" they act all butthurt about being called an #$&hole or even start declaring that the other person is being immature for using such language.

    It's funny though, I actually got negative rep (my only time) for calling someone a bigot on here, which is actually a pretty tame insult for the D&D forum. Of course, that person happened to be DaDakota, so I wonder if that had any influence on the severity of the insult.
