I was there tonight, 10th row 3rd base side. Went to over 100 Stros games in the Dome and finally saw a no-hitter in person at Yankee Stadium. Alot of Yankee fans left after the 7th. The crowd didn't really get into it until the 9th when Wagner came in. Train ride on the 4 to the stadium-$2 Newsweek to read on the train-$3.95 Field Box Ticket-Free 5 Beers and a hotdog- $50 Watching the Astros pitch a no-hitter-F***ing priceless
Hey... they probably earned a little bit of respect from the Astros' players themseleves. Kinda makes you scared when Oswalt and Miller become FA's. You have to think, with the aging Yankees pitchers, that they'll make a bid for one, if not both. Add Dotel (who loved playing in NY) to the mix as well for potential pitchers who could get lured away by them. They do have the most money, but they also probably have the most class... and players know that.
i am just so happy it came together like this, and against the yankees no less!! and the best part of it all, is that i actually got to see it live b/c it was on espn2 up here! what a fantastic night.
Of course they sent Champagne, SteinBUYER is probably going to chase a few of them when they become free agents. Classy....nah....calculated. DD
The only thing that comes close to pitching a no-hitter in Yankee Stadium, is watching the New York media react to it:
Inept yankee hitters? Is the NY media always that harsh on the team? I remember I think Jerome calling in to sportsradio all the time complaining about the Yankees rightfield weakness, are all the NY fans that way? Classy media, classy. Way to go Astros, by the way.
Champagne -- to make today's relievers need relief before they shut down Bronx 'Bombers'? Nice move, actually. (Or calculated to 'win' today's matinee?) Roy O -- did this raise Chuck Finley's bargaining power?
