well its pretty obvious this team needs a trade and its also pretty obvious francis needs to be traded after today, but what can SF really get you. Everybody here knows steve is overated and overpayed. Do you really think other GMs dont know that also. With SFs contract I dont think anybody would be willing to take him. I after today his trade value took a major hit when word gets out that he missed the flight because he wanted to attend the superbowl no team is going to want him. What coach in their right mind would want a player who puts himself and his own goals and interest in front of that of his teams?

I missed flight is not going to end Francis' career or kill his trade stock, but it also isn't going to get him traded. The guy is a byc player meaning his contract can only be moved for half its value. Given that, he isn't going anywhere before the offseason.

I'm concerned that JVG might be starting to lose these players. It's one thing to have a bad offensive run but they have stopped playing defense. The paint, which they used to OWN, is now open for business 24/7.

Could this be the team giving up on their coach?

It was really funny when David Aldridge said this on ESPN. I think he was almost laughing when he was saying it.

    Steve Francis 2004 Resume:

Ranks #12 in the NBA in Assists Per Game(5.9)
Ranks #8 in the NBA in Minutes Per Game(39.7)
Ranks #8 in the NBA in Minutes Played(1827.0)
Ranks #9 in the NBA in Assists(271.0)
Ranks #2 in the NBA in Total Turnovers(170.0)
Ranks #4 in the NBA in Turnovers Per Game(3.7)
Ranks #8 in the NBA in Turnovers Per 48 Minutes(4.47)

Steve is tops in the league. He plays a whole lot and turns the ball over a whole lot. The above sure looks like the resume of an allstar to me.

Trade him now!!!!! I don't want to here any crap about we need him and he is our best player. So what, that has been the case for 4 and a half years and we still have the same record 0 and 4. We will not win with Steve and we have to face it before its too late and he is worth nada.

Oh and looking at the above stats I think we should fire JVG for giving Steve all those minutes so he could create all those turnovers.:D

First of all, this team still needs a letter. Francis will never be that leader. If PHX traded their best player (Kidd) to NJ why can we? I say we trade Francis for someone that has a more leadership role. Francis is too immature. I mean, a leader doesn't do blow his teammates for the super bowl. Enough said !

If you want to rebuild the team, the first thing to do is to fire CD and get a real GM.

Look at the team, this is still pretty much CD and Rudy's team.

SF, Cat, Cato, MoT, Yao, Boki

    CD got JJ

    JVG got MJ, Weatherspoon

    No shooter on this team

If I were the GM, I would trade Cato, Cato's style of play doesn't fit the zone defense, his defense is not enough to compensate his lack of offense.

I would also try to trade SF, Cat and 1st round picks for Paul Pierce if it can be done.

I won't trade Yao because he is still a good and young center. Even if he is not going to be a superstar, he can still anchor the team on defense and offense.

You don't want a coach to do draft picks or trade because he always wants to win now.

IF Les knows what he does, the 1st thing is to fire CD. He actually should let both CD and Rudy walk at the end of last season. Unfortunately he kept CD. CD has not done much for the past 10 years with regard to draft picks and FA signing.

How can Les Alexander conitnue to wacth this crap and not make sweeping changes within the organization? The funny thing is you listen to the players and they have no idea how bad they suck, they all spout the same old cliches over and over. BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, STFU and win consistenly <-- who am I kidding

Because Kidd is arguabaly the best point guard in the NBA and because PHX didn't want Kidd due to his off court problems(wife beating), not because he had a disregard for his team. The trade was basically a point guard swap of two players who were not wanted on their teams(Kidd in PHX and Marbary in NJ).

hey jeff, we already fired one coach over this teams inconsistent play. How many more are you willing to go through until we look at the players?

Although Feigen (sp?) wrote about how the trade exception could and couldn't be used, he was wrong. Not that you mentioned it but I wonder if his article still influences thinking.

We can use the trade exception to offset the disparity in BYC trades. As we have a 6.5 million exception, it could come in handy for this situation, which is spinning out of control----maybe not irreparably, but it is a bit nauseating.

Fair points. The finger points to the players if the same mistakes are being done under JVG as they were under Rudy.

The difference is that JVG is drawing a line, this is tough love, and quite frankly many of the ROCKET players are not used to it. Seems like the older veterans (those who have been on other teams etc), Jim Jackson, Padgett, Mark Jackson seem to understand what JVG is trying to do.

You could almost argue that Rudy coddled Francis and Mobley and they aren't used to this "tough love" type of treatment. This is not a Rudy bash here, just pointing out the different styles of treatments.

This team just has to work through it. Take it one day at a time, one game at a time.

Is there a way we could work a 3 way deal and use Cato, Cat, and the exception to pick-up Van Exel and Brand?

No chance of that! You won't touch Brand unless you are dealing Francis.

Francis for Brand.....any takers? How about Francis+Cato for Brand+Jaric?

I have no idea if their salries work out, just throwing out some ideas.

    Jaric
    Mobley
    JJ
    Brand
    Yao

That's a nice lineup. Not sure if Jaric is a JVG type player though.

I always liked Jaric. He had a bad start to this season, but he has been averaging like 5 steals over his last 4 games.

That being said, if we could somehow do Mobley/Cato/something for Brand/Jaric, I would still prefer it....Francis is still better than Mobley...
