Kobe has missed a dunk on fast break. Here is the problem with the miss dunk. 1)In the game T-mac didn't make another shot and only had 1 more point after a dunk that happened in the 1st 2 minutes of the game. 2)We lost 3)This whole year T-mac has been frustrating to watch and clearly has lost a step. If he missed this dunk 2 or 3 years ago I'm sure this would not be a big deal. If we won the game this would not be a big deal. If T-mac played well after that this would not be a big deal. But none of that happened.
Tmac got hung on the BOTTOM of the rim, Wafer and lebron both were above and didn't time it correctly. The point isn't whether it's a sign of physical decline, but that given his knee issues and lack of confidence in the knee, a reverse jam is the last thing he should be trying. Lay it off the backboard or make a regular dunk. If he wants to "test" his knee then do it in practice.
I agree with this. Tmac has got to realize that he's not the same player anymore, at least not the type who'll throw down thunderous dunks. But at the very least, Tmac is still capable of scoring 20 point a game and dish out 6, 7 assists on any given night. McGrady needs to suck it up, get over his physical limitations, and continue to play some ball.
Ok, agreed, but wasn't this thread about the dunk? Tracy played bad, like Yao. Tracy has been horrible phisically this season, but in this sense I've seen a clear improvment on his body. I mean, if people is worried about that topic: he can dunk, and he can make the dunk attempted.
Well as far as "the dunk". What it looked like to me was T-mac looked back at the defender, lost focus, and then tried to do a dunk he didn't have to do. I don't know if he was trying to prove something to himself. T-mac should not be doing any reverse dunks unless he has to, which on a fast break like that a simple layup or a simple dunk would of been fine.
i really dont understand why tracy doesn't just keep up with his strength program until the playoffs, he isn't helping us at all the way he is playing now. He's missed so many games already why not just strengthen your knee and when playoffs come you can actually be effective. Like someone mentioned if this was a few years ago no one would really care and we would all be making fun of him because we know he can get up but this is the real deal. This is how hes going to play the rest of the season/playoffs if he doesn't do something about it. If we couldn't get out of the first round with a 25ppg tmac who carried us the whole way, you think we can get out of the first round with this guy? no way
its not because tmac missed a dunk. its because of what has already happened before this that has made fans weary and doubtful. and now seeing this, it just really reinforces all our pessimistic emotions. and at this stage in the game, anything done wrong is going to be REALLY amplified in our eyes.
Yao misses 10 dunks a year, & gets cheesed by the smallest man in the league year in, & year out. Like clockwork. Couldn't wear Olajuwon's jock even in his wet dreams. Mac was playing well before last night. Who gives a crap? Just get wins.
Sitting T-mac out until the playoffs would be the worst thing possible. You either A)Let him play though it and hope he comes around or B)Bench him for the rest of the season, playoffs included. You can't just insert a guy in the playoffs and think everything will be fine because he feels better. You need to develop some type of chemistry for the playoffs and if he comes back just for the playoffs it disrupts everything.
ehh, he just doesn't have his athleticism right now.. It is as simple as that The question is: Will he ever regain at least some of it back?
It was funny as hell to me. The old t-mac could've done a 360 dunk of one foot. I guess it's just shocking to everyone that he has regressed this much.
also, Tmac actually slowed down well before he reached the rim, he was at almost half court and he slowed down, allowing defenders to almost catch up...there's no reason for him to slow down that far from the rim...just bad decisions all around, bad decision to slow down, bad decision to dunk, bad decision to reverse dunk...
