We need to start booing him when he plays with no heart, which is everyday but especially when its real noticeable
1. Ever had a knee operated on? 2. Have you ever played an organized sport WITH an injury? 3. Have you ever had to rehabilitate an injury? If you answered no to any of these questions, I feel your frame of reference on the above subject matter may be flawed. If it were just T-Mac's supposed lack of heart that is the problem, he would have sat out last year even before Yao went down for the season. If his lack of toughness is the issue, we never would have made to 7 games last year against the full strength Jazz or won 22 in a row. I don't know if some of you have noticed but T-Mac now is NOT T-Mac of old. He cannot carry a team as he did before. Of course many times he WAS the only player worth a crap on those Magic teams. He DID carry the team many times. He is NOT that player anymore. He is less than he was but more than most. He can still run and shoot. He just can't do what he used to. T-Mac played in ALL of the 4 games in 5 nights and needed some rest for his recovering knee. No big deal, Ron took a game off too to help his injury. We don't need T-Mac to beat 50% of the teams in the NBA as long as Ron and Yao are available. We need T-Mac for the better teams and the playoffs. Would you rather have a healthy T-Mac for the playoffs or wear him out in the regular season and have nothing left for the playoffs? I am sure many will say these are excuses but facts are NOT excuses, they are reasons.
i guess most nba players had one or more operations. nba still has 82 games per season. tmac's knee is healed as indicated by the team doctor and a specialist in Atlanta. his pain is from the weakness of his muscle around knee. keeping playing through pain is one way to rehab and will not risk his knee anymore. this is what doctors said. unless you are a doctor and happened to diagnose his knee and know more than the team doctor, please stop giving him an excuse. according to the article, he admitted he didn't play as hard as he could. fans have all rights to ask a player to play hard.
Man, when fans feel this emotional about sports/sports athletes, I think they need to seek professional help. You have to realize it's just a game at the end of the day and there's is life outside of the Houston Rockets.
Recovering knee health is the REASON Although I do understand the basis for such an discussion, I just find it very unpealling to question a man's heart when no but God and themselves would know what they are really thinking. Its just disingenious to assume anything. I have had knee surgury before and there are many factors aside from the physical aspect of recovery to consider. The metal side alone may take 6-12 months depending on the severity of the injury and repair that was needed. Its a trust issue. Also if you push your knee too quick before its ready and you will prolong the rehab, maybe even damage it further. (came back a little early to make sure the team got off to a good start...not a wise decision but one that puts team before himself. Hmmm sounds a little like someone with heart) In addition, a knee will not be as strong stamina wise for a while until you build it back up. (played 4 games in 5 nights but his knee was hurting after such a string of physical activity. Not uncommon with recovering knees)
Tmac isn't hurt anymore. He had surgery on May 6th. It's Dec 29th now. The doctors said within 6 months or Nov 6th, he should be fully healed. The 6 months was the high end of the timeframe. Many athletes takes 3 months to fully heal from this type of surgery.
If TMac is really hurting, he should have follow what the doctors told him to do and that was to sit out for 3 weeks until he fully recovers... That shows heart, I think but the mental aspect of the game is tearing him apart... He can still be in the upper echelon if he plays with passion... I just don't the fire in his eyes EVERY TIME we play the GREAT teams...
I think t-mac lacks championship mettle. A good guy, a great team mate, and an awesome basketball player. But he doesn't have the psychology of a champion and that's what seperates him from Kobe and Jordon. Those guys have something in them that refuses to let their game be knocked down... And that's why T_macs game is going to deteriorate because he just doesn't have it to find new ways to stay good even has his body gets older. If he wins a ring, it will be as a result of others and coaching....he will just be a part of that. He's no Hakeem, Jordan, nor Kobe....he's not Lebron, he's not a Duncun. He's a Clyde...a Dennis Johnson, a Charles Barkley, a Chris Webber. He's good for our team, and will probably have his mental issues resolved in time for the playoffs, and do wonderful things, but he does lack that championship mettle. I lost some respect for T-mac after this latest episode.
It is mental, but it has nothing to do with his knee. Sounds more like somebody who skipped rehab this past offseason and tried to play his knee into shape. (which CAN be done and is being recommended at this current time by the doctors)
Say what? Barkley and Clyde? Let's not go overboard. McGrady could never get a team out of the first round. Those guys did.
Ah, Mcgrady, he breaks my heart. I want him to be on the rockets, I want him and Yao to succeed, but sometimes you have to realize it aint gonna happen. I knew he had a little primma donna in him, but his skills are unmatched. I think he has more natural talent than Kobe, but Kobe has the work ethic and the killer instinct (specially with young white girls.) Its inevitable, the Rox cant go on throughout the season wondering if Tmac is gonna play, how he is gonna play, etc. Time to bite the bullet, hope for the best, and re-sign artest.
This thread is Greatness. Fang types from the heart, as a true Rockets fan who wants nothing more than wins for his team . Five stars, and I hope he doesn't get banned.
Hey, I bet McGrady's whining comes from the heart. I feel you Fang. Tell some more. Hope your wife/husband stops hurting you or something. And now smiley to make it softer. Five stars.
