He needs to drop about 30 lbs and play at a lighter weight. Combine that with playing him 6-8 fewer minutes per game and resting him more during the regular season, and he should be ready to go for the post season. For an exampe of overplaying a player, look at Odom last year and this season. A world of difference. Combine that with taking off about 30 lbs and Yao will be fresher and much more effective during the playoffs and more productive in less minutes during the regular season. Yao is TOO HEAVY.

IMHO , YAO NEEDS TO RETIRE FROM THE CHINESSE BASKETBALL TEAM. He can not keep playing all year long

Honestly its not really the shoes, its the support. What would actually help is a different surface, but obviously the NBA won't change the surface due to one player's needs.

If you made his shoe softer, the likelihood of him rolling his foot/ankle would tremendously increase.

If you made it firmer his knees would have problems.

The shoemakers do quite a bit of research before putting out a basketball shoe, especially one that will be worn by an NBA all star.

The real solution is occasional brace on the foot, and limited time throughout the course of the year due to it being a preexisting stress fracture.

I totally agree with this. We have all of our other positions stacked (PG questionable at times) but we need a legitimate back up center who can score, defend and put in long minutes no matter who we play. Look at LA, they can go with Bynum and Gasol. Cleveland with Z and Wallace. Boston with Perkins, Scalabrine and Moore. Big men who can contribute/share the minutes and be productive. Don't get me wrong, Chuck and Deke have been essential to our success over the last few years, but if we can get size and endurance backing up Yao, we'd be unstoppable.

Yao dropping 30 pounds would be him dropping muscle. You would not want to see that. First he would look like he was starved, second he would get thrown around by everyone else in teh nba, and last if he lost muscle in his legs he would lose a lot of mobility (which he needs as much as he can get) so slimming down isn't an option.

The minutes I do agree with however.
