If he was an aggie , i would like him yes, and prob argue for him (with maroon colored glasses) as being better than he really is just like i did with reggie. But i am not against him because he is not an aggie, it is because I think he is overrated.
However, he did have the dual threat of Kevin Jones and Leroy Suggs, so he had plenty of help. Anyway, don't know where this is going. VY and Vick, both great players.
OK. At least you're able to admit that some of your opinion is based on affiliation. I have no problem with this as long as people admit it. I'm sure some of my VY admiration stems from the color he wears on Saturdays. I think I'd still feel he's a better QB right now than Leinart if he was an Aggie as I had a great deal of respect for McNeal (and was impressed by McGee's running ability).
That's a shame because things tend to look much better in burnt orange (especially this year). As a UT-homer, you have my approval to think VY is overrated.
They are completely different players. I've watched Young play since he was a senior in high school and Vick throughout since his Freshman year at VT. They just are different players. In all honesty (and you can say what you want about this) I think Young would be an elite receiver in the NFL. If I was a GM, that's what I'd want him as right now. I understand that he's improved every season and maybe next year my opinion will change but his delivery will get too many passes batted down. Culpepper, McNabb and Vick all have been banged up a lot in the NFL and they all have better arms then Young. He'll have to change his motion his senior year for me to consider him a QB prospect (if I was drafting).
This is the post I made about Michigan: I fail to see how that post is any more condescending than anything else in this thread.
I remember it. I went back to reread it to make sure I didn't feel differently the second time. I didn't. I guess it's all how you interpert something but I just didn't like that post. As you can see, even when I haven't agreed, that's the only time I called anyone a name. Your post pissed me off.
I apologize if it angered you as that wasn't my intent. I merely was attempting to state that I didn't (and still don't) see how you can trust a soph at one position and not another.
So his "you can't have it both ways" argument was condescending, but this isn't: This is by far one of the dumbest argument I've seen. Anyone who think Vince Young is a better quarterback then Matt Leinart should be taken out back and shot. ok.
That's cool, the apology is mutual then. No big deal. In the case of a quarterback it's much different then a running back. As a freshman, teams didn't know what to expect (Henne wasn't even supposed to start, Guttierez was) but as a sophomore they are much better prepared. A running back doesn't facew that same challenge.
Fair enough. And you're right, Young will most likely have to change many of the things he does for the NFL, but that doesn't mean he can't do it. I'm sure Vick, Culpepper, and McNabb had to change a lot of the things they did so they can be a better pocket passer as well. However, I really don't like the argument that those other QBs have been hurt and that they've had a better arm. There are just some players that get banged up, and there are players that don't, having a good throwing arm doesn't necessarily protect you from injuries. Look at Pennington, he has no doubt one of the best arms in the NFL but he can't stay on the field. But I'm pretty sure thats why Young has decided to stay for his senior year. His receivers will be a lot older and more experienced, and I think he'll prove a lot of things to people, if he hasn't already.
