Wow. Yeah, I guess Vince has no running backs. And somehow Leinart gives way to Jarrett, never mind that he's the one throwing the ball to him. Brilliant! So in a simpler passing scheme, Vince is able to be a more efficient passer, generate more total yardage, and throw the ball for more yards per pass. The question I have, then, is why doesn't Leinart use this simpler and apparently more effective scheme? It's called pass efficiency.
OK, you said you have the stats to back you up. What are they, since they clearly don't correspond to scoring (TDs), moving down the field (yardage), or efficiency (QB rating)?
Well, it almost seems that you're saying that because Leinart is a better pocket passer and runs a more sophisticated offense he is the better quarterback. You dismissed the total yards statistic because Young scrambles. Why? Those yards count just as much as the ones Leinart picks up through the air.
You're right, I'm simply overwhelmed. You say "There is without a doubt an extremely valid argument that Leinart is a better college QB then Young" which is exactly the argument I'm making.
the stats don't lie. This guy is better than both of them http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=134244 This is lame, there is no way Vince Young is as good as Matt Leinart
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/stats?playerId=138583 look at reggie's junior year when he had some talent on his team compared to Radios http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/stats?playerId=135107
According to many posters in this thread, Vince has nowhere near the weapons Leinart does. It's a lot easier to be more efficient when you're throwing to wide open receivers all the time. He generated more total yardage this season because he ran the ball well and Leinart had both White and Bush go nuts. That's a pretty simple concept isn't it. When you don't have as many attempts ,your yards per pass are typically higher. For example, look at guys like Antwaan Randle El and how many yards they average per catch. Does that make them better then Marvin Harrison? Didn't think so champ. Thanks for the lesson on pass efficiency, I just took a page of notes.
I've read enough arguments on message boards The only way to know which player is better or which QB is better is to tune in on Jan 4th. Even if we lose this year, I'd say, it's one hell of a season with so much hype and provided me profound entertainment this semeter. I am a UT student :-D Bush will win Heisman, and Texas vs USC is something everyone in the nation is looking forward to. May the better team win. Hook'em!
I haven't made it? I think you may want to go back and read my posts then. Here I'll simplify and save you the trouble: 2 National Championships 1 Heisman Trophy Way better career- Leinart Young- Great season and a half and a Rose Bowl victory.
Where is the love for Cody hodges? http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=118234 He is better than Leinart too!! Him and Jacobs are a lot better than Leinart and Young because they have more yards and Tds!
Wow, another full post dissecting why Vince's stats are better than Leinart. You said you had the stats - where are they? And why are they now qualified if Vince's are better?
That was one of my points earlier in this thread that got ignored. It's selective posting in here , when points like that are made everyone just falls silent.
Congrats - for a second time in this thread, you proved that Leinart was better than Vince in previous years, something that no one has argued with. You still have not shown anything about this year.
The Season isn't over, What big games has Vince ever won? Cody Hodges is better than all these guys!!!
