Hey guys I am looking at schools and have gotten into both baylor and a&m honor business undergrad programs... I'm hoping to get into UT but if that doesnt happen I need to pick between these two. Does anyone here have any insight on either of these two schools? I am planning to study finance.
Pick the school that wins this weekend. Go with UT or TAMU business if thats what you want to do. It will be insanely difficult to get into those programs at a later time. Get in now, you can always switch out later. Switching in, different story...
UT's business is the hands down the best. So that should be your first choice. May's business school at Texas A&M is 12th public (37th overall), excellent choice. Plus what we call the "aggie network" helps you more than you can imagine once you graduate. We are everywhere my friend, and if you're an aggie, you're pretty much going to get hired  Also, if you plan on continuing in business after undergrad, our grad school is very impressive (top 10 nationally, ranks 1st in executive MBA return of investment). I believe it's also more affordable than Baylor, so I think A&M is a good second choice after that little place up in Austin if you want to do business good luck in your endeavors
In other words... UT/TAMU are nearly a level playing field IN Texas. So pick based on which school you actually prefer. If you want to live outside of Texas then UT is the choice.
Yeah I might have not been clear.. if i get into UT, I'm going, hands down.... cuz I have been a longhorn since I was a little kid. However if Baylor and A&M are my only options, I am just wondering which program would be better.
Baylor of course... Im a sophomore business major here and our business school is plain aweseome. We have a lot of resources available to us and the faculty is top notch. Some of my favorite professors I have had so far have taught business courses. They are also getting ready to build a brand new business school like they did with the science building which is amazing if you havent seen it yet.
Go to the "U.S. News & World Report" graduate rankings, get the chart that shows GPA, GMAT and average starting salary then make your pick. Or try to hack into their Career Websites and compare what companies do interviews, offer internships and come to their career fairs. Though, yeah, A&M's gardonculous (TM) network should probably give them the edge. Does Rice's Business School even enter the discussion, or are they just too young/overpriced?
And I imagine a better faculty. Have you been to McCombs? It's ****ing insane. They just built the school a convention center and hotel to go with it. Sure beats the ole CMA/CMB/CMC. All that being said. Don't miss college.
You don't go to Baylor if you get accepted to A&M, and you don't go to A&M if you get accepted to UT.
I was over there for the first time a couple of days ago...WOW the hotel and convention center are amazing.
I go to McCombs and it's pretty good but I have never seen or heard of the convention center/hotel until now, lol. If I were you then I would pick A&M over Baylor because it's cheaper, has a larger alumni base, and is better in rankings. Considering you got into Honors, it's not even a close contest IMO.
He's talking about undergrad business schools, which Rice does not have, so it's not really a relevant question. If you're looking to bait this thread into a Rice vs. UT undergrad thread, then I'll let the US News ranking speak for themselves. It's not even close.
im a biology major (forgot to mention that) and i was accepted to both. it was a hard decision for me to make but i chose UT. not looking to bait anything i was just asking.
