Yao Ming averages 3.2 TOs a game this season. With the attention he's getting, plays run through him, changing of PGs, that's not too outrageous for a big man. All star-big-man's TO hover round 3. Having someone other than Yao being able to create offense would solve a lot of problems.
it's possible, but usually it's reserved for the greats of the greats. kobe and hakeem have such a versatile game that they can adapt their style of games as they mature. michael jordan was the same way. unless yao suddenly develops a lethal midrange game where he can go out and negate some of the defenses played on him, this is the best we're going to get.
Agreed, especially when he is the MVP of this defense. I really don't think he's ever played basketball in his life-time, Posts like that make it really easy to tell.
coz he's more knowledgeable than you this thread dead provides a dead on analysis on yao's weakness & how he hurts this team yes he shoots 60 70% in a lot of games but overall, he gives up way more: turnovers, butterfingers, rebounding etc.. particularly pick and roll D if you've been watching yao without bias, its not hard to see why making him a your first option is dumb
Again, it's the match up. MVP defense against players that can shoot the 15 footer? He showed that last night, every single Utah game we played in... including playoffs, and the last Toronto games. He gets killed depending on match ups. Simple as that.
It would be funny if Yao goes to the Tmac route - screw it, I want to play with DWade, or someone of that sort.
Like I said in a thread which has been locked last night. It's time to trade Yao, fire coach, layoff Ron, kick Daryl Morey's butt, force Leslie Alexander to sell this team, impeach Obama, and send Jesus to hell.
Yao is the weaklink not 100% of the time, but atleast 80% of the games. coz you have nights when you play shaq or dwight, eddy curry. etc the traditional centers.. but how many are out there these days? the other night the frontline of andrea bargnani and chris bosh was a walking nightmare for yao.. and you'll only see more of that in this league in the years to come. you don't understand that, and i don't expect you to
Yeah, how many play-off series has Yao won?? Yao is just as much a first round virgin as T-Mac is..... Not trying to bash Yao, but please, dont go to the first round virgin crap when Yao is 0-fer as well.
Without attacking the poster or creating a strawman argument....can anyone argue with the +/- numbers??
People get sensitive here about anything, it's not just with Yao. People can whine and moan about what Yao is and what he isn't, but the reality is he's still the best center in the west and maybe the league. Having the best player of a certain position on your team only happens to a few teams, so you might as well relish the time he is here. With all Yao's weaknesses, the Rockets won't be a better team without Yao, unless we can get someone who is better than him, which is extremely unlikely. I still believe that with all the rule changes in the NBA that favor the guards, owning a talented big man still wins championships. It's been the old adage in the NBA ever since George Mikan laced up the sneakers. So as bad as Yao is in some areas, talented big men don't grow on trees, trading the best player of a certain position is irrational unless for another best player of a certain position. Yao won't lead us to a championship alone, but he'll still be the main engine running the whole show. If we were to trade Tmac for Vince Carter, this team would be an instant championship contender...that's how close we are.
Not very many teams in the league have a true center that is worth a darn. We have to keep Yao, true centers are to hard to come by, especially ones who are the best free throw shooters on the team.
too slow, both physically and mentally against quicker players except nights against shaq, prysbilla, dampier etc i don't expect you to understand thou but its fine we'll agree to disagree
