The article concerning the Four Way Wild Card Tie scenario had 1 little error. Boston/Seattle have to go 2-1, not 1-2 with each teams 162 game record at finishing at 91-71. The scenario of NYY getting swept by TB (98-61), BOS/SEA winning 2 of 3 from WAS(65-94)/LAA(74-84) respectively and TOR sweeping BAL(52-107) is not that far fetched. I don't even want to go into two WC play-in games being counted as regular season games which would affect the seeding of the WC game. It will probably work itself out of this possibility, but it would be interesting and fun looking at it from an outsider's position. https://sportsmetro.net/2021/10/01/...er-still-possible-heading-into-final-weekend/
I agree. I loved sending Tucker home to secure the score by negating the review possibility a few games ago.
I see Yankees and Red Sox getting in. Mariners are due to choke, Jays couldn't beat the Twins when they were behind in the standings.
But the Jays have the best run differential of the bunch by far. My fun thought for the day is imagining MLB Corporate offices with a 4 way WC playoff in the AL with the Yankees and Boston being eliminated. Then the NL West ending up in a tie requiring an extra "regular season" game for the Dodgers and Giants to determine the Division winner. But that last part might be determined by H-H regular season series or it might jut be used for determining who hosts the game. I can't keep up with all the permutations.
Update on the 4 way WC Tie still in play. Needed: Order of choosing seeding, not the seed itself. BOS 1-1 v WAS; 91-71 A TOR 2-0 v BAL; 91-71 B NYY 0-2 v TBR; 91-71 C SEA 2-0 v LAA; 91-71 D NYY and BOS can clinch WC spot with wins. NYY can clinch #1 WC with win. TOR and SEA are out with losses.
Cant remember the last time 4 teams were still in it with 2 to go. Mariner and Blue Jays fans have to be especially happy to have their team still in it. This year is a good example of the wildcard serving the function it was intended for, in the A.L. As for the N.L., boring, boring, yawn except for some St Louis firework's.
Seattle ****ed up by losing to the Angels. They controlled their own destiny......and then **** the bed.
TBR Destroys the Yankees 12-2 NYY 91-70 TOR (89-71) leading BAL 7-1 BOS (90-70) WAS just underway 0-0 SEA (89-71) LAA 8:10PM CHW 6:10PM
TBR Destroys the Yankees 12-2 TOR Destroys BAL 10-1 NYY 91-70 TOR (90-71) BOS (90-70) leads WAS 1-0 bottom of 7th. SEA (89-71) LAA 8:10PM CHW 6:10PM
If I could make one wish this postseason (that isn't the Astros winning the WS), I'd wish to see the Dodgers lose in the WC. Don't **** this up, Giants.
