Magic Numbers Angels - 7 Twins - 6 Indians - 4 Orioles - 2 Red Sox - 1 Mariners - 1 A's/White Sox/Tigers/Rays - Eliminated
Astros will play two teams eliminated from the playoffs, while the Angels and Rangers will fight each other in a 4 game series in Arlington this weekend. Twins and Indians start a series against each other tomorrow.
Not true ... we have same number of losses as Angels so they could win out and we would have to play them in an extra game to see who gets the WC. Of course in my opinion I don't count the WC team that doesn't make the Division series as actually having made the playoffs anyway. You need to get into a 5 game series at least to get that distinction. Edit: never mind I am an idiot .. If Angels win out, they sweep the Rangers and we pass them ... 6-0 it is then, make it so!!
We want the Indians to win 2 of 3 vs Twins. As of now we should just root for the Rangers to lose to Tigers at least once and Angels to lose to A's at least once, and then we'll know more on Thursday which team to root for in the Angels/Rangers series
Won't know until games end on Wednesday. All I'm going to root for until then is the Astros keep winning.
The Astros and Angels have lost the same number of games. If both teams win out, they will knock out the Rangers, but there will be a tie. So the Astros and Angels would have a head to head matchup to crown the AL West title, played in Houston. The loser would go on to play the Yankees in a one game playoff to face off against the KC Royals. The winner goes up against the Blue Jays. However, the Twins seem to have a way easier schedule, and could win out themselves, which means that they Astros need to go 5-1 to have at least a 1 game playoff somewhere! Astros just need to keep winning. At this point, every game is a must win! If it breaks down like the following, there will be a 4 way tie for the wild card playoff...... Astros 5-1 Angels 6-1 Ranges 3-4 Twin 7-0 http://www.baseball-reference.com/g...HOU&team2=ANA&from=2015&to=2015&submit=Submit http://m.mlb.com/news/article/59527184/playoff-tiebreaker-rules
Well, I just saw that the Royals and Blue Jays have identical records at 90-65. I totally missed the Jay's catching up to the Royals. Just kind of took it for granted that the Royals were running away with the home field in the American League.
Twins don't have an easier schedule either. They play the Indians who are still in it mathematically, and then the Royals who will be fighting for the top seed. The Astros just need to win games and not worry about anything else. If you keep winning your in.
