Why are so many people blaming the girl for posting a pic on Twitter as the reason for the man's firing? Seriously, do any of you actually believe in accountability? It's up to his employer, nobody else.
1) A joke like that is pretty common in the IT industry. Does that excuse his behavior when women are around? Definitely not. I read her blog post, and it seemed reasonable for her to feel offended as it is a big issue women commonly deal with as the minority. But the guy's termination is overkill and her public shaming of that guy was the direct result of it. It could be that the dude was a really bad employee and this was the tipping point. Also likely is that the company terminated him because they're branding themselves as a family company and having his face on the internet as a dim witted misogynist didn't fit with in their wholesome gaming image. We don't know. Adria doesn't really either despite her playing accountability police. 2) Apparently people do believe in accountability since mob outrage also lead to her firing as well... The way she handled things led to a condition where everyone lost and nothing was properly resolved. It's ironic that she didn't realize the power of her decisions despite holding the mindset that she was in the oppressed minority. People actually do pay attention on the internet...or at least employers do.
ignorant ****. because blacks are NEVER in a position of power? I was one of a handful of white kids at virtually every school i went to growing up.
This sounds like overreaction from all concerned. I feel bad for the guy getting fired but really people are threatening violence to Richards?
