This difference is PPat is two years younger than Hill and a much better overall player already. He also seems to want to learn and improve. You saw as the season progressed, so did his game. I think in another year or two, he'll be starter unless Scola gets traded.
Morris started for all three of his seasons at Kansas, and was the best player on the team for the better part of two. He is a smooth power forward with guard skills. He was the best passer on the team. He would post smaller players and face up bigger ones. He has a go-to move, a fadeaway jumper he shoots over either shoulder and he developed into a fierce offensive rebounder.
OP has it nailed. This is a very good baller that is bball wise. He's got a great handle. He's got a great jump shot. He's got a great post-up game. He's got great floor vision and passing ability. He's got great skills. And he knows how to get his mismatch. He's quicker and faster than bigger players and he has superior post up skills against smaller players and he KNOWS how to create the mismatch on the floor and do it in an efficient manner. That's the important thing. He will be the best or second best small forward to come out of this draft (Derrick Williams). What is going to make him a really good player though, is his desire and will to win. He's a hard worker and he has tremendous winning desire. Combine that with his skills and he will be a very good NBA player. He'll play some minutes at the 4 in "small ball" lineups. And he'll play minutes at the 3. Him and Patterson are going to be great bookends with both guys being able to go in the post, run some pick and roll and both being able to drift outside to let the other operate in the post with their mismatches. We need Chuck back tutoring these guys. And we need Montiejunas to be the 5 and develop some defensive toughness. It's time to move Scola and Lee for a good defensive center.
If he does indeed end up just being our 4, we got ourselves a damn good player. Think Jeff Green with better post offense skills.

Eddie Griffin had the same go to post move snuffed out in the NBA because of his lack of lift. You HAVE to be able to gain separation in this league.
Everything about Griffin got worse, even if his lift. He had too many mental problems. Most players will not get less lift. There is even an potential to increase it with hard work and a good trainer. Look at Patrick Patterson. He seems to have increased his lift with better conditioning. He gets up really high for those alley oop passes now.
My prediction is he will be when Scola gets traded (along with other pieces) for a center. Center: ? PF: P Pat (the only decent help defender we have) SF: M Morris? SG: K Mart PG: K Lowery This would be a decently skilled and physical lineup with a good bb iq (2 penetrating guards, 2 wing shooters, 2 bangers, and hopefully a post defender yet to come). With all due respect, I don't think it is fair to compare J Hill (not much basketball experience or iq; clueless on help defense; no outside shot; not a consistent rebounder or physical presence) to PPat (tons of experience at Kentucky at both 4 & 5; good bb iq; legit help defender; decent mid range jumper; good rebounder and strong physical presence). IMO, if he isn't traded away first, PPat has a good chance to become our starting PF (especially if my suspicion about Scola comes true).
Yeah, yeah, he's a really nice player with the type of work ethic and character that other Rockets players like TWilliams, Hill & Thabeet lack. But superlatives and Youtube videos aside, he is still a tweener type who is too small to be a PF so they are saying he's really a SF in PF clothing. It remains to be seen that he can play on the wing and has the foot speed to keep up with the faster SFs in the league. He can do that and then maybe the Rox were right to pass on Leonard. Oh and BTW: Montiejunas is a PF and not a C. Your centers today for the Rox at this time are Thabeet and Hayes with the Rockets front office hoping (against hope) that Yao can come back (again).
Donatas has already been refered to by DM as a 4 / 5 so would think they would try him quite a bit at 5. His skills are perfect for playing the 5 in a high post offense which the Rockets run a lot and plan on keeping.
If you haven't actually watched them and have to ask, it's Marcus by a mile. Markieff will be a servicable 4. Marcus will be a mismatch almost every minute he is on the floor and will serve as the initiator/goto guy for his team a lot of the time.
