Why is point differential indicative of how strong a champion team is? It just shows you how weak the competition is. MadMax, I think haven's point is actually your point. It's harder to motivate defense than offense. So a team that plays defense is usually what seperates it from the rest. But if it's the other way around, i.e., everybody wanted to play defense and nobody liked offense, then whoever played good offense would seperate themselves from the competition.
That's a BS stat. Who cares about point differential. The Rockets organization has TWO championships and NO ONE can take that away. Obviously the Rockets were better than everyone else in order to win those titles. Everyone always wants to downgrade the accomplishment of others. If you wanna look at it that way, the Lakers were LUCKY to win 2 of the 3 titles they won recently. Portland was up 15 with a few minutes left in game 7 of the western confrerence title and choked it away. And their 3rd championship was kinda lucky too when horry hoisted up that ridiculous shot to win game 6. If you want to look at every little BS thing or stat and determine which team was the strongest than you have to take into account those things aforementioned. Give teams their due and move on. Peace.
