i agree with you on that, but i don't think there was a specific "freeze out" on boki. it would have been nice to see a couple shots in the game but he was on offense like what 5 plays?
I see what you guys are saying, but it would have been nice to see this beautiful stroke of his we all keep hearing about. I mean we keep reading/hearing all this stuff about him shooting lights out, so naturally we want to see it for ourselves in a real game. I guess that's just the way the ball bounced this game.
Francis played under control and the offense looked good until it got tight. I don't think Francis will ever be the pure pg everyone thinks he can be. He still doesn't know when to push the ball and how to push it, but he draw attention and can make plays. I like the intermediate game he displayed tonight. He's kind of like Marbury in that he can get assist secondary but is more confortable getting off firstn then involving others. Good game even though i would like to see them pick up the tempo a little more. Boki kind of looked like Langhi standing around.
Steve was at his best tonight. The dude has major skills theres no denying that. But it was pretty obvious Francis looked away Nachbar one or two times when Nachbar was open. Its not that big of a deal since this was Nachbars first game and all but I will be pissed if this becomes a regular occurence.
hmm, i did see bostjan swish one shot during warmup before the third quarter started but didn't think that'd be the only one. anyways i think tmo borrowed boki's shot for the night which is probably the reason he sat for so long. not a bad thing at all if we have atleast one of them, or glen rice, hot every game.
its just the preseason opener, and the rocks won. With out all the stars. Everything does not have to be perfect yet, not until next game but the rocks pleased me. Boki will get his touchs..
I think tonight was an excellent game for Franchise...I'm impressed that he looks almost as if he didnt rest at all in the off season! I could care less if he passed Boki the ball. Maybe in his mind he is thinking he doesn’t want any Rockets standing around the 3 point line expecting the rock. How about he gets his a**under the goal and gets a rebound with all his athleticism everyone talks about. I'm not knocking Boki but I think because he is a rookie and Francis knows how much Morris has improved and has a year of NBA under his belt he would rather have him out there. If Morris can continue to shoot like that and bang down low like tonight I say bring on the best in the west! God I'm so glad the Rockets are back!
I'm looking at people say that the Rockets players "froze" Nachbar out of the offense, and that Francis ignored Nachbar, looked at him and turned away, so I decided to look up how many minutes Nachbar played. The guy only played 6 minutes! That's the least of anybody who played during the game. How is Francis supposed to get Nachbar flowing in the game when he only played what would amount to as half a quarter!?
I knew it! I knew the Steve bashing would continue regardless of what he does. People here who complain that Boki didn't get the ball fail to mention that he only played like 6 minutes today. While your bashing Francis, why don't you bash Rudy as well for not playing the rookie more. 22 shots, I don't know about you guys, but considering that Steve is the man on this team, shouldn't around 20 shots be the norm for Steve? Considering the direction he is headed, guys like Kobe, Jordan, Vince, Payton, and T-Mac all take about 20 shots or more. As long as we win, does it matter what Steve does if it helps the cause. 30 points and 10 assists is great for anybody. It seems like only in our town will you find fans hating on a player, even when he's at his best. I think Yetti is upset that Boki wasn't the #option or something. I wonder how he'll act when Ming is here and he isn't the first option either?
Actually, if u think about it, he took almost the same shots in the second half that he did the first half, which was the 18 footer. he was jus nailing it the first half. Also, Nachbar just being there on the 3 point line might have actually helped Steve get those better shots. He shot like 3 shots within 3 minutes from the same spot, the right side of the key. The only person who could double would be Nachbar's man, and Steve would have then given the ball to Nachbar. But the double team never came, and so Steve just shot the ball. Remember, it doesnt matter if Nachbar scores or Francis, as long as it is a good shot. And the shots Francis took today were good shots. If u notice, when Morris was feeling it earlier in the 1st half, Steve fed him the ball twice within a minute. But thats because the double team came on his penetration. I am sure if the double team would have came in the second half with Nachbar in there, Steve would have passed it. It sucks for the people who couldnt watch the game tonight cause Steve was really being a good leader. I mean 30 and 10 on the first preaseoson game?
What surprise me was that “boki” didn’t do a single thing. He just stood there around the 3-p line. But then I thought that his injury is still bothering him. I know he can shoot, but he seems slow in a way, hope his not. Francis should have atleast try to give him a pass just to see how well he shoots.
Im not bashing anybody you big nerd. Im supporting moomoo's observation of Francis clearly looking away Nachbar a few times. The fact is it happen. Its not that big of a deal but it did happen.
HeyDude, thats a very nice read on the situation. I think you're right. And like Rocksmillenium was saying 6 minutes is not enough time for Steve and Nachbar to get acquanited with one another.
Nachbar not getting enough minutes does not surprise me. First of all, the dude already has made the team. The players who are competing for a spot got to play tonight, like Morris, Oscar, Tierre, and Tito. Second, if u notice, Rudy does this every year in preseason. He will play one guy more than the other each game(notice i mean the new guys, not regulars like steve, cat, etc.). today, morris came right off the bench. i wouldnt be surprised if next game it is Nachbar.
IT'S SIMPLE AS THIS.......... Who's the go-to guy on this TEAM? Steve "Franchise" Who is this team being built around? Steve "Franchise" Who the best player on the team? Steve "Franchise" Who got ten Assists?(Which is GREAT for the person who began this post) Steve "Franchise" What's there to complain about. THOUGH--- the only point that can be made, is about his turnovers. 4 tonight by Franchise alone. NOt that bad. Though this guy is not a very good point guard. .......READ ON.........In terms of PASSING ALONE!!!!!!.....his passing skills seem to be weak which get him in trouble. YES I KNOW HE HAD 10 ASSISTS but he also gets MANY turnovers....it's usually because of arrant passes. YETTI----have you heard of a guy named Gary Payton????? Do you think he gets his team involved? Yes, he does by getting his assists. But, when you are leading the team taking 20 somethin shots IS NO BIG DEAL. It's actually fewer shots than PAYTON takes. Anyway there's no other player on the ROCKEts who deserves to shoot as many as 20 shots. FOR THOSE GUYS WHO THINK BOKI IS A SUPERSTAR.....you may just have to wait a while. who else do you want taking the shots....Cato?
As for the first reason, that doesn't make sense to me. It is important to determine which of the few guys on the rope make the team, but is undeniably more important to give someone who has already made the team, yet has never actually played in a game with them, and further who comes from a whole different style of playing ball, the more significant minutes. As for your second point, I agree. Rudy always does something quirky like this, and even further, it seems as if Nachbar expected it really, as he alluded to in his last diary We have our first preseason game Monday at Memphis. I don't really know how much I'm going to play. I figure, if I play, I play. If I don't, I don't. That's up to the coaches. We don't really know what's going on in the pratices enough, despite Clutch's fabulous work, to understand why some players got more minutes tonight an others got less. Finally, I'm sure Terrence Morris' stellar play had something to do with it.
MY MESSAGE WAS FOR THE REGULAR SEASON.... though Franchise has to make his POINT to all new players that HE IS THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! otherwise..........I AGREE WITH JAY-Z 750!!!!!
Yetti is so worried that Francis won't feed Yao Ming enough. He's terrified. We all know he'd rather trade Francis than Yao Ming at this point in their careers. Meaning, Francis asfter an All Star season, and Yao Ming before playing in the NBA. Don't worry, Ming won't be frozen out. He'll get the ball, and if he makes them, he'll get even more. I was dissapointed with Griffin. He really kicked Gooden's ass in the summer league, but got beaten tonight.
