This isn't really a story...but 2 years ago my family had just bought the house I currently live in. At the end of the first day that we had begun to move our stuff into it, we went back to our old house (which is 1 subdivision away) to go to sleep. So, the next day we wake up and drive over to the new house. We open the front door and there's this weird noise in the house. Right in front of the door lies a fan blade! We then see another blade on the staircase which is slightly to the left of the entrance. The noise is coming from the fan in the guest bedroom, which has just a single blade spinning around. However this fan had 4 blades...we look all over the house searching for the other blade, but can't find it. A few hours later my dad found the 3rd blade sitting on a shelf inside the closet in the room this fan was in. This "door" to this closet is two sliding mirrors. The way the closet was at the time, there couldn't have been more than 5 inches between the mirror and the wall. It just seems really strange that the blade just happened to fly off the fan into that tiny little gap AND stay on the shelf, also without even leaving any dents or anything above the shelf in the closet. In fact it just seems weird that a fan would malfunction and throw blades at all! Has anyone else heard of a fan doing this. Anyways, once we did move into the house I didn't use my fan for the first 2 weeks or so, thinking that I would be sleeping and wake up with a fan blade whacking me upside the head... Also the stair thing somebody mentioned happens in my house too. I swear that I hear someone walking up the stairs, but when I look nobody is there...and the light in that same fan throwing room has been on a couple of times mysteriously. That room STILL has moving stuff in it and is rarely even used, and everyone swears they didn't even go in the room, yet the light gets turned on somehow..... Hmmm, is it an old house? ------------------ Rarely is the question asked: Guns kill squirrels than REDRUM to fools across the nation?
I'm glad it's still daylight. I visit a lot of ghost-related web sites and I listen to Art Bell late at night. No wonder I have trouble sleeping. ------------------ "I have no regrets except that I wasn't up to keep Randy from getting on that plane." --Ozzy Osbourne on guitarist Randy Rhodes
I have two stories to share. When I was about 10 years old I was staying at my grandparents farm for the summer. A couple,my grandmother was friends with, had a car wreck and both lost their lives. They had two young daughters who were with a sitter at the time of the wreck and they stayed at my grandparents for two days while family drove down from up north to pick them up. Me and my brother and the two girls were sleeping out in this big room that served as a den/guest room/game room.It was really large and had beds and a fireplace, also a pool table. Anyway there were two full size beds, side by side.Me and my bro were in one and the sisters were in the other. I awoke in the middle of the night because I felt very cold. The beds were near a big fireplace and I looked over and there was still a decent fire burning. So I then roll over as I'm trying to wrap up in the blankets better and as I look towards the other bed I see a woman standing at the foot of the girls bed looking down on them. I just think that whoever was coming to get them has arrived so I just roll back over and go back to sleep. Next morning I wake up and the girls are still in the bed.I go out for breakfast expecting to see the visitors who have come to pick them up and it's just my grandparents sitting at the table. So I ask where the company is and my grandma says they will be in later in the day.I tell her about the woman at the foot of the bed and describe what she looks like. My grandmother tells me I described exactly what these girls mother looked like even down to the way she was dressed.I had never seen this woman before, not even a picture. ------------------
The other thing is kind of like what gr8-1 was describing. I had a period of about 2 weeks where I would wake up and it felt like someone was sitting on my chest and trying to smoother me. It was like I could even make out a shape and it reminded me of the grim reaper, just a shadow. It was terrifying and I would try to scream but couldn't,then suddenly it would just stop.Like Clutch said it was very seamless if I was asleep and then woke up. This probably happened 5 or 6 times in this 2 week period and it got to where I was afraid to go to sleep at night. I don't believe it was anything supernatural because I started sleeping with a bayonet under my pillow and it stopped.I don't think a ghost would have really been afraid of a bayonet. Anyway that was some scarey S*it. ------------------
Dang, no ghosts and nothing too scary, but WTH.... I used to make a late drive from Colorado to Santa Fe every weekend to visit my wife-to-be. If anyone knows the stretch from So. Colorado to New Mexico, it is quite deserted and pretty high elevation ( I lived at 8000 feet), although there are a few little villages of about 20 people with such welcoming names as No Agua, Solo, and Ojo Caliente (that one always spooked me - why the hell would you name a town 'hot eye'??). One night a bright light went shooting over my car. At first I thought that it was a helicopter, but there was no sound and it seemed low and moved too quick. I thought that maybe it was a reflection on the windshield, until I realized there were no lights and no moon. It didn't freak me out too much, but it was definitely unexplainable. A few years after leaving Colorado, I read that the alpine valley that I lived in and northern New Mex are considered hotbeds for UFOs. Whatever. As far as pyschic stuff, my wife and I get a kick out of a little 'game'. We started to notice that sometimes when we would be talking, the TV would repeat a word right after we said it. I told my wife that it was my grandmother talking to us. Then it started happening (or we started to notice it) several times a day. My mother came to visit and the same thing started happening to her (she didn't enjoy it so much, and she blamed us for it). One day we were driving to the airport. I don't remember what we were discussing, but the guy on the radio said something that sounded exactly like a response to what I had just said...even before my wife could respond. We laughed, and I said, 'great, now they won't just be repeating words but there will be a commentary on what we are doing'. No more than fifteen minutes later, as I was kissing my wife goodbye at John Wayne we heard a page for 'Greg Kissing' (bet you can guess my first name). Maybe all just coincidental, but definitely amusing to us. BTW, -> Anyone watch John Edward on SciFi? -> Anyone visit Whaley house in San Diego? Don't miss it if you go http://gothere.com/sandiego/Ghosts/Whaley/default.htm
gr8-1, That happens to me a lot. Sometimes I feel like a force is laying on top of me and I can't move. Also, sometimes, I wake up in the middle of the night and I feel paralyzed. I try to scream out, and it seems it's so so loud that I yell. But nothing, all I hear is my breath. It's funny that you have that thing about your hair. I do the same thing. I'm always looking around the corner in my own home, looking to see if someone is behind the door, or underneath the bed. I don't have a gun, but I have bats and knives strategically placed all around my home. I too am getting ready to live alone, as I just broke up with a long time love, so I'm really freaked out reading these stories. Here's a few stories: This one happened to me when I was younger. I was picked on by a bully at school this one day, and I swore that I will kick his ass the next time he messes with me. Growing up watching Samurai Sunday, I "practiced" puching and hitting the wall to build up tolerance to pain. After about ten minutes of hitting the wall, making knocking sounds, the wall made sounds back to me. This was a house that had no one on the other side. I still can't rationalize an answer to that one. My culture believes that if in your sleep an old haggard looking lady comes knocking at your door, and you answer, that means your death will come soon. My mom said that this lady has come knocking twice in her lifetime, she didn't answer of course. My culture also believe sprits live in big trees, and that you have to do certain rituals if you wish to cut down these trees. My uncle cut down this big tree in front of his house. Later that same day, around dusk, he was taking a nap, and was awaken by this guy with a beard and a blue shirt choking him. He's a Buddhist, and there's a chant you say which, and I'm just speculating on the translation here, that means Buddha protect me. Well, after he said this chant a few times, the spirit released him. He then did the proper rituals, and the spirit did not bother him again. This one happened to my cousin. My parents and his came over to this country very poor. So a painting was given/bought to them when he was very young. It was a painting of a young boy. one night he woke up and that boy was running towards the door, but stopped and turned around to him. Last one, this one to me. I think. I still can't find the source to this. Don't know if it was a nightmare or what. Like I said, we were very poor when I was young. We had a basement, and I remember we had a coffin in the basement we used for storage. You have to keep in mind, when you come to this country with just the clothes on your back, you take what you are given. Well, one day I went down to the basement to get food out of the pantry, and the coffin opened and a very hairy man sat up. Of course I ran upstairs, and that's all I can remember. I must say that while I was typing this, the damn phone rang and I nearly jumped out of my seat. Stuff like thie freaks me out. Bad. I remember I couldn't sleep for a few days when I was young and say a special on Geraldo about Satanism. Some woman was be exorcised and her jaw started protruding like an ape and her eyes as wide as saucers, and some deep voice was speaking.
Many years ago, while my parent's house was being remodeled, we moved into a townhouse for 6 months. During that time, my parents kept hearing the sounds of a crying baby (although faint) from their bedroom. I actually heard it a couple of times, too. The thing was, none of the neighbors had babies. Also, there was a rumor that the townhouse next to ours once partially burned down -- killing a baby trapped inside. Freaky. Also, I once felt the benign spirit of a ghost who I swear was the spirit of my best friend's deceased father. I was sitting in my room, exactly one year after his death (which was actually on my birthday), when I felt really cold for no apparent reason and sensed a presence in my room. I started to panic, but I then felt a warm, soothing feeling flow through me. For some reason, I instantly thought of my best friend's father (I saw an image of him in my mind). Perhaps the anniversary got to me. I don't know. Call me crazy, but I still think it was him I sensed. My sister once lived with a group of girls in an old house in college (in New Orleans). One night, one of the roommates was fixing herself a late snack when, out of nowhere, the image of a man walked across the kitchen (making no sound). She completely freaked out, grabbed a knife, and began shouting. They searched the house and found nothing. In the next few months, 2 other roommates also saw this "man" late at night. (My sister missed out on the fun, though...)
thanks for scaring the crap out of me, guys. anyway, when i was younger my dad held a play at a theatre in chicago where a blues singer was murdered. the actors kept claiming they heard someone singing blues when they stayed after to work on their parts late at night. pretty scary.
My cousin died two years ago in a boating accident. My mom was having surgery ((can't remember why)) about a year or so later, and as she was going out she said she saw my cousin smiling at her. She was there only for a second, but just smiled at her as if to say everything was going to be ok. This is pretty damn odd because alot of people in my family say they have had dreams or I guess you could say illusions where she has appeared to them, as if to reassure. I only wish I would see her : /
