A less obese John McClain and Mark Berman himself. Many years ago.

"Less obese" is the preferred nomenclature, dude.

The keen ear will catch Pam Oliver off camera asking a question to Mike Holovak (the first time Mike is interviewed in the film).

Ok, I waited until now to post...I just needed some time after watching it last night.

I made my wife (she's from Cali and doesnt know much about Houston sports history) sit down and watch it because I wanted to educate her on my favorite sport team. Yes, that Oilers team meant more to me than any of the Rockets teams. I annoyed her by taking away her cell phone...and literally made her focus on only the TV. It was that important, haha.

In any case, crazy that I had mixed up so many details...it's as if I wasnt following them that closely, even though they meant so much to me. I guess with the internet and social media, it's easier to follow nowadays, but still...I was way off on so many things.

    Just some random thoughts...

First, I didnt realize Moon was getting benched so frequently at the start of the season...and I had forgotten that it was only because Cody got injured that Moon got his job back.

I dont know why, but if you had asked me yesterday, "When did Alm die?"...I would have told you it happened in the offseason...not smack dab in the middle of the season. I had completely forgotten about that detail too.

Baby gate...didnt even know that existed until last night. And crazy to see Al Gore chime in on that. It's funny to see how important football was to all the coaches, front office, etc... It's as if you werent supposed to have a life outside of the game. Times have changed so much.

I had forgotten how massive Lamar Lathon was...he was one of my favorite players on the team. I remember I would go to every home game, then wait outside for the players to come out so I could get autographs. I think I got Lamar's autograph over 15 times while he was in Houston, but I had forgotten just how massive the guy was (even though his pads added to his look, but still).

Good to see some of the other players, just to see what they like today...that made me happy to see that they look nice and healthy. Buddy Ryan on the other hand, the guy looks like hes 100+, lol.

I had no idea how much drama surrounded that team...I had a great time watching it, but it was definitely bittersweet...the ending was tough to watch for me. I remember leaving the stadium after the Chiefs playoff game, walking to the car, on the verge of breaking down and bawling my eyes out. After enduring the Broncos and the Bills...I had reached the point where I just couldnt handle it anymore. I remember the devastation like it was yesterday. That's going to be with me until the day I die.

    How sad, haha.

Heard about this but that Denver game....where they make the final drive to setup for the field goal. Well there was a bad snap but everyone credits the holder for being able to set it up for the game winning kick. Well guess who was that holder and cost Houston the game.....

Wow, I never came into the Texans forum because I quit following the NFL after '93. I wouldn't have known this thread if Clutch hadn't posted it on the front page.

'80 Astros (beaten by Phillies in extra-inning)
'83 Cougars (and the previous two years of "almost there")
'93 Oilers (and the previous two years of "total collapse")

    Choke City at its best...

The Rockets were the only saving grace.

At that time, I was a HUGE Broncos and Elway fan. I was watching the game at Dirty's (used to be just off Richmond) with some Houston fans. When Elway hit that big 4th down play, I was literally the only one screaming out loud in Dirty's. I know I got dirty looks.

I remember watching that game at home and Bob Costas interviewing Bill Cowher at halftime and asking him how he thought the matchup with the Oilers would go. So you weren't alone.

Don't remember much about this game specifically, but as you said, it wasn't a surprising ending giving both Montana and the Oilers playoff history.

I cannot believe I'm asking this, but can someone please give me a link so I can watch this online. I'm certain this is going to depress me, but like a train wreck I feel the need to watch

So sad... :( The worst starts at the 2:30 mark. Makes me relive one of the worst sports moments of my life. I was a teenager, one of the Oilers' biggest fans. It was so hard to let it go but now that I watch this, and look back after all these years it really puts things into perspective.

So many reasons why it just wasn't meant to be. The Oilers of those years, and the city of Houston were just not mean to be. It was a divorce that was just inevitable.

SO much anger, so much heartbreak. The story of Houston professional sports.

    Thank God for the Rockets.

Watching that reminded me to be thankful for Bob McNair.

Seriously, he gets a lot of crap, but he's one of the better owners in the NFL.

The Texans have a long way to go to break as many hearts as the Oiler franchise did.

If only Kubiak was coaching those teams we probably would have won a championship. He would have been the perfect guy to run a conservative offense when it mattered.

We had a legit quarterback but I don't think Kubiak is the type of coach who would want a black QB starting for him. Look at his old coach Mike Shannahan and what is going on with RGIII some old habits die hard.

So bye bye Shannhan and bye bye Kubes.

Just to think 20 years later new team, new owner, different offensive system, different quarterback but yet the same ineptitude and football woes displayed by our home town team. Blah!

You know, maybe tearing down the astrodome needed to be done. In the docu towards the end, they talked about how the Texans play at reliant but the ghost are over at the astrodome. Maybe we needed to blow up the AstroDome to get rid of this "curse". So hopefully next year, Houston Texans will no long be haunted by the Houston Oilers and the Astrodome.

It's amazing to me how congruent pro football has been here in this city...from the Oilers to the Texans....almost seamless. Granted, the Oilers had tons of distractions...and the Texans have been, for the most part, corporate and boring. But on the field, the Texans feel like an extension of the Oilers...like we're reliving things. At least that's how it feels for me.

I watched it last night, just wow. I completely forgot about the suicide, the benching, the offense vs. defense wars, baby gate, etc. I texted Doug Dawson, as he works with my financial company, and he was ecstatic people were actually watching it. Yes, he is real life hyper active just like in the interview. Everyone else seemed chill and somber, but not Doug. I was kind of embarrassed for him.

I also forgot about all of the coaches shows that Gifford Nielsen hosted. Wow, those memories.
