I was hoping someone would post this clip. That was one of my favorite matches last year -- too bad it was preseason. Heh.

Anybody notice at the end they say that maybe the Globetrotters will be watching?

Maybe now is a good time to call the Globetrotters and turn in an application.

Heh, just kidding Rybo. I'm not gonna say I'll miss you, but we all appretiate a guy who works as hard as you.

he seems like a nice guy, when i was at the open practice this year, he held a baby after i shook his ginormous hand. man that guy is tall though too bad he couldnt contribute more. i agree with the arguement that was brought up before about moochie not doing much and getting a longer contract than bowen...o well life's not fair is it? he'll find a team that needs his hustle just like adrian griffin did.

Dude, how many people in the clip above are no longer on our team? More than half?

Just from memory: 1) Rybo, 2) Slomile, 3) Jon Berry, 4) Derek Anderson, 5) D-Wes, 6) Moochie... Wow, the things that can change in one season.

In fact, other than Deke, I don't think any of the players on the court for the Rybo's dunks are still on the team.

As a fellow, University of Iowa alum, I want to congratulate Mr Bowen on staying in the league as long as he did. The stat line doesn't always mirror the contributions of a player and this was always true in his case. We all knew what he was brought in here to do and he did his job.

I would actualy like to thank him for leaving it out on the court, knowing his role and sticking to it. I liked his hustle and his defense.

    Thanks Rybo.

(Ryan Bowen has yet to approve this message.)

Jonathan Feigen takes a slap at the haters in appreciation of RyBo...

Ryan Bowen was waived by the Rockets, and after reading blog responses the past few months, I feel safe in assuming most of you probably will not consider this to be a great loss.

That's a shame. Bowen ought to be a fan favorite.

No one, absolutely no one, plays harder. That is not a matter of choice as if you or I could choose to play so hard for a million bucks. We could not even think of ways to hustle in the moments he actually beat opponents to loose balls or down the floor. That's a tough thing to do. On winning teams, it is celebrated. But the Rockets were a losing team. And though Bowen was never much of a shooter, he was not the poor shooter we saw last season, either.

He played injured and in pain and his own stats suffered for it. I mentioned his hip injury a few times in print, but he always asked me not to and refused to say much about it. He played last season with a torn hip labrum. I don't think I could make toast with a torn hip labrum. But he played because so many teammates could not.

It was a lousy season and a guy that deserved better got kicked around because of it. The Rockets needed his roster spot and Friday's move was probably inevitable, but it's not something to celebrate.

I feel the same sentiment about some fans are way off in bashing Rybo. Per dollar value, Rybo's play is always worth with his effort and hustle. Please dont forget Rybo was a minimum playa.

Also, Rybo jump shoot is a mental thing I guess. How could a prof bball playa shoot so many airballs. But that's what made Rybo a minimum playa.

    Thanks Flyin' Ryan Bowen...............

    AKA......... DIRK STOPPER OR DIRKANATOR

    GOOD LUCK....AND THANKS :D [IMG]

    wikipedia:

Statistically, Bowen is one of the less productive players in the game, with lifetime averages of 2.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 13.7 minutes per game. But he is revered for his "intangibles," including hustle and defense. In the 2005 NBA Playoffs, he received a rare starting nod and with it high praise for his defense of Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki, who made a dismal 13 of 40 shots in the first two games against Houston. At the time, sports media attempted to dub Bowen "The Dirk Stopper." He immediately demanded the media to "cut that stuff out."
