By polls... Trump has only increased his popularity. You are lying to yourself. Unless dems and moderates are filling this magical gap left by republicans.

Meanwhile the current President is talking about how popular he is on Facebook (incorrectly) during a briefing about a national crisis.

This. Upper middle class white people aren’t going to vote to give up their entitlement.

I suspect that upper middle class white people (top 10%?) are hopping mad about their investment portfolios.

Donald Trump and Joe Biden are four years apart. The problem with Trump as a candidate is that any criticism of Biden can be easily off set by Trump being worse on the same subject.

For example, “Biden’s weirdness or cognitive issues”.... for every one of Biden there are an equal number for Trump.

Want to question Biden’s health? All they have to do is trot out the fake letter from Trump’s doctor.

Want to point to Biden making some women uncomfortable? Trot out his first wife’s comments that he raped her, trot out all the claims of actual sexual assault against Trump and then close with his hidden statements.

There really isn’t much to attack Biden on because Trump on the same topics is far worse.

It really isn’t Biden versus Trump anyway. This is a mandate on Trump’s first term (as with all incumbent Presidents). If people are comfortable with him, he will win.

    2 questions...

    1. What range do you consider upper middle class..

    2. What entitlement are you speaking of?

He is in the middle of the “rally around the flag” phase. I wouldn’t read much at all in the polling bump during a national emergency. If nothing else, his bump has been very small.

    Top 15-20%.

White people (especially men) in the top 15-20% mostly fill the more lucrative jobs and live in the nicer towns. They got their jobs by being hired but other similar white people. They socialize and go to lunch together. They marry other similar white people or. Perhaps someone not white that desperately wants to be a part of that top white social class and will essentially fit in at all costs.

They have overall comfortable lives with big houses, safe neighborhoods, spending money, jobs with social status and want to pass that on to their kids and the people similar to them.

When you are one of the “haves” but not insanely wealthy, you will excuse a lot of flaws and support someone that will protect your interests.

Most of them have seen the markets go up and down and know it will go up again. No I wouldn’t say they are happy about it, but they will fight like hell to keep their social and economic position of entitlement.

I am in the “entitlement” demographic and I see it everyday. People express it to me (assuming I feel the same way). Even my Assyrian wife is accepted because she is attractive and doesn’t have an accent.

It is a very tight knit group in many ways.

While The people I love and care about are outside that top 10%, those in that top 10% assume I am just like them because I know how to navigate within that top 10% for business.

    Thanks Nook...

I'm not white.. but I am in that upper middle or lower upper class and some what you say is true...

But on the other hand, we talk about how the tax changes or other changes that Trump has put in place has actually hurt us...

    But we will see..

Bush actually had good timing. Iraq didn't start falling apart till 2006 and the economy didn't fall apart till 2008.

Katrina was Bush's first visible failure. It was a failure in terms of the cronyism, the people he had in leadership in agencies like FEMA.

Even with Katrina conservatives blamed the poor people. Regardless of opinion, conservatives still weren't critical of Bush at that point and Katrina was after re-election

I've been thinking this is a nationwide Katrina over the past few days.

It's an unparalleled crisis for any presidency for an epidemic that can hop from city to city at any given moment and test governmental response at all levels.
