That was hardly dispassionate. And oh yeah, Bleacher Report.

Obligatory "Bleacher Report is worthless", and coaching is a very different job from GMing. I don't really like McHale as a coach but let's at least back it up with legitimate reasons.

The Timberwolves could've had a team of Chauncey Billups, Josh Howard, Ray Allen , Brandon Roy, Danny Granger and Kevin Garnett...how good would that team be?

Well, wasn't McHale somewhat responsible for drafting the likes of KG, KLove and Al Jefferson? I mean, I guess he has an eye for talent among big guys.

However, as a coach, we can do better. Really.

We'd rather believe he's suddenly become a great coach, having developed a brand new offensive philosophy that just happens to reflect Morey's statistical approach, and that everything related to in-game substitutions, rotations, not playing to players' strength, 9-18 record on games decided by 8pts or less, horrible away record, even worse record on back-to-backs (poor minutes management), worst western conference record for teams in the playoff chase, collapse down the stretch last year with a veteran team, issues with Lowry last year, playing small-ball down the stretch despite needing rebounds and having Dalembert and Camby on the roster, playing small ball and believing his SFs played like horse**** because they didn't rebound like a big man, not playing Asik for many crucial games final moments, porous defense only saved by Asik, and recent losses to teams sub-.500 playing small ball down the stretch ...

... we'd rather believe all this is due to the team being young, and that McHale had suddenly become a great talent evaluator, X&Os guy ... basically a great Head Coach.

And that McHale should get all the credit.

So ... we'd rather not click into your link, and prefer to reach into the stratosphere of the unproven to believe McHale is the reason for the Rockets success this year.

Assume they would have had Ray Allen instead of Stephon Marbury. How do you know they would have had the exact same draft position to acquire Brandon Roy? Josh Howard? How do you know how the past would have played out had they changed it?

Just know that McHale as a GM managed to turn almost every situation into an inferior/bad one.

He drafted a certain Ebi in lieu of Josh Howard. Drafted Rashad Mccants when Danny Granger was still on the board.

And to cap of his performance he trades Kevin Garnett to his former team the Celtics.

He just really screwed the Timberwolves organization bad.

Congrats. You have proven that Kevin McHale is a bad GM. Since GMing and coaching are clearly synonymous positions which needs similar talents, we should fire McHale and make Daryl Morey our new coach. That's obviously the best strategy.

Wolves coach Kevin McHale, not an X's and O's type of guy
    By J.E. Skeets

Our quote of the day comes from Nuggets vet Anthony Carter, a former Timberwolves guard, who tells Chris Tomasson of the Rocky Mountain News that recycled Minnesota coach Kevin McHale should "be a lot better" this time around.
"It was a learning experience," said Carter, who will see McHale and the Timberwolves on Wednesday at the Pepsi Center. "He didn't really know all the X's and O's, but he had a good assistant coaching staff that was helping him out with a lot of plays. He kind of let us run whatever we wanted.
"He was trying to draw plays, and it was like a little Etch and Sketch. Like a kid just messing around. ... He just gave the clipboard to the assistant coaches sometimes."
An Etch A Sketch! So THAT explains how the Wolves beat the Cavs in '05. They employed George Vlosich.

Good god, this is a dumb thread. I may just have to print it out and leave it in the restroom in case we run out of toilet paper. Oh yeah... Bleacher Report.

Should one discount the fact that all of the Wolves playoff appearances came under the helm of Mchale. Seems fair!

What does personel moves as a GM have to do with character? Do you understand what a character reference is?

I wonder what Chase Budinger and Kyle Lowry have to say.
