While I don't think the Texans would trade up to get Blackmon, price is no longer the issue in regards to draft picks. They simply aren't anywhere near as expensive as they used to be. If they had the opportunity to get Blackmon and passed, it would be because they didn't want to give up the picks...not because of money.
I'm on the sign a veteran WR bandwagon personally. Bowe is a guy I would target hard followed by DeSean Jackson. I don't see Mario back and I would cut Leinart and Jacoby. Tons of cap room. You get Bowe and then in the draft you go best available CB/OLB in RD1 and RD2.
I don't see Philly's Jackson as a fit. Kubiak will want a wide out with size who can block and the attitude is not doing him any favors either. Same goes for Santonio Holmes. I think I recall reading Vincent Jackson will not be franchised, now he would be ideal, but he would be the most expensive option and demand will be heavy for him. I think the draft is most likely and I would like to see them take maybe two, another Antonio Brown type for returns in the 3rd or so. We should also get to see what Lestar Jean can do as he comes back from injury but you cannot count on that, it would be a nice bonus.
Is WR the best skilled position to make an impact? - What I'm asking is if you have RB, QB, or WR (or even CB) that is obvious 1st round, top 20-25 type talent...Which position is most likely to return a safe bet? I know top rated QB's, RB's, WR's have stunk, but I would think WR is the safest return of getting quality compared to other skilled position... You have a deep WR field, but unfortunately, lots of teams are in the mix for the talent.
Saban was actually down on Jackson as a pro and said Arenas may be the better player. Saban doesn't play pee-pee games.
I'm not against the Texans trading up, especially if the player fills a need, and we desperately need another long range threat.
