Ron Artest is a tamer version of Dennis Rodman

Artest is exactly the type of crazy mofo we need on this team. We need a thug that will kick ass when Jazz start being physical with us.

If Brooks is all that it takes to get Artest then it shouldnt even be a question.

I can't believe people are turning down Artest

Do you really believe he is insane? He is just desperate for some attention. There's no way he'll be stupid enough to get suspended for a year. If the pieces that are required to get him do not involve landry/tmac/yao/scola then it should not even be questioned. Artest is what the Mavs, Suns, Rockets need. It's not even funny if the other teams get him instead

i think the rockets need to keep battier, scola, and deke if they bring in artest. i'm not too keen on artest and rafer together, potential blow up there.

Artest and Rafer are both NY boyz from the hood. They understand each other.

Besides, dude played for Adleman before successfully. I don't see why he coudln't play for Adleman again.

Youre trying too hard to find a reason for not to like Artest. Bonzi was way more troubling last year than Artest yet people here still talk him up.

To be honest I'd love to have Artest replace Battier but I worry about replacing the 3pt shooting that Battier provides. We can't run a line-up out there with Artest, T-Mac and Alston taking our 3's. Teams will clog the paint and kill us.

However, if we were able to get Reddick backing up the 2, Novak the 3 and Brooks was able to turn on his 3pt shooting backing up the 1, it would give me a lot of comfort.

Mostly, I think about the opportunities to run high post offense with Artest, T-Mac, Yao and Scola all AT LEAST decent at doing that.

Plus the scoring punch is undeniable. T-Mac and Artest would make, IMO, the best swingman combo in the league.

Anyway we get Artest using Bobby Jackson and a first, then use Alston/Head/Battier to acquire a sweet shooting PG? I'd be in.

I'm not FOR radical changes this offseason unless this kind of opportunity falls into our laps.

Artest is a guy that everyone not named T-Mac or Yao would be expendable.

Valid point imo. Artest can nail 3 pointers when he's hot, but he's definitely not a "shooter."

If we could grab him in a trade and then maybe use the MLE to bring in guys like Walter Hemann and another shooter to backup at the 2/3 like Pietrus.

It doesn't matter if the pope himself ordained Artest.. We have people on this board who are oblivious to his skills and what he bring on the court.(Basketball not Legal :) )

There are some on this board who want are players to be such a goody too shoes and sell girl scout cookies that they forget it's a rough game.. If you have ever sat courtside and actually seen what these MEN do you will see the physical impact of the game.

A more relevant coaching opinion (if true) came from a Feigen chat around the trade deadline; paraphrasing - "Adelman is not interested in coaching Artest again".

The discussion should be about what Sacramento is going to want for Artest. The reality is that they are roughly 11th in a brutal Western Conference. Portland is on the upswing and 2 of the top 8 have to drop out for Sacramento to even be in the playoff conversation. And that's with Artest and Kevin Martin. Unless they're insane, the Maloofs must deal Artest for expirings and young potential.

The question then is who can put together the best package. We've got the expirings. The question is about young potential. Brooks is less valuable than Landry or Scola based on rookie years, but Sac might project him higher because of raw skills and importance of PG, and Landry's age.

Would a package of Battier/Jackson/Brooks/filler do it in a SNT with Artest?

If that's the best offer, Sacramento would be stupid not to take it, and then hope to land a big FA.

I dunno about Adleman but Artest loves the man.

Artest also offered to donate his salary to retain the services of head coach Rick Adelman, whose contract expired after the same season. Adelman and the Kings did not agree on a contract extension so the two parted ways.

I agree that he has great potential. I remember listening to 610 and I believe mattj (could be wrong) said that scouts agreed that Arrest has #1 overall pick type of talent. The problem was on his personality tests he fit the profile of a serial killer. He has already shown his ability to blow up almost beyond repair. He could be a franchise killer to any club that signs him.

    Risk=Reward?

    i remember reading that, too.

i know artest has been talked about a lot here, but imo we aren't and shouldn't be gettng him. the risk-reward math just doesn't add up.

is devin george a f/a? can we spend some mle money on him? (the mcgrady fans should love him, since he can veto a big trade. lol. j/k)
