I don't want Fisher. There is a reason that every point guard in the league LOVES to play against the Lakers.

Dide you even look at his stats before Gay Payton came?

    FG% 3P%
    00-01 .412 .397
    01-02 .411 .413
    02-03 .437 .401
    03-04 .352 .291

He had to adjust coming of the bench.

you want a guy that... could only shoot between 35%-41% from the field when he has almost no one paying attention him on D because shaq and kobe are his teammates

he doesn't take care of the ball particularly well. the lakers turn to kobe as their primary ball handler under pressure.

Fisher is a serviceable player that had the fortune of being on a heck of a team. I'm sure the Lakers would have rather had about 20 other point guards in the league ahead of him last year. Heck, he couldn't even beat out a horribly ineffective GP at the end of the year because he was playing just as bad.

David Aldridge was just on Around the Horn and said that Derek Fisher desparately wants to be in Houston, and has let them know that indirectly.

When I start to think about our trade exception though, I still hold out the hope of luring Steve Nash away from Dallas, even if he is a sheepdog.

My biggest objection to Fisher is his defense. The guy cannot keep up with other point guards and he doesn’t have the length to make up ground. Ever see Fisher chase around opposing guards and fighting through picks? He almost always has to resort to flopping to prevent a wide open jumper or layup. Sometimes it’ll work, but I just don’t want a player that has to rely on flopping so much. Flopping should not be the only thing you’re capable of doing. And his defense is only going to get worse as he gets older.

    more DA on DF:

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=aldridge_david&id=1831980

"Derek Fisher, Lakers: You know all you need to about D Fish. Heart of a champion. Tough on the ball. Maker of clutch, clutch shots. At 29, he wants to start, and he deserves to. A Fisher-McGrady backcourt in Houston makes a whole lot of sense; Fisher is the kind of point guard that Jeff Van Gundy falls in love with."

My biggest objection to Fisher is he sucks.

When the coach has to decide between Brian Shaw/Derek Fisher, Derek Fisher/Brian Shaw, Brian Shaw/Derek Fisher...... that's more than enough to say, NO THANKS

did you watch him in this year's playoffs? i saw him and gary payton play horrendous through out the playoffs. the guy was a step slower and looked worse than about 28 other pgs in the league.
