For around 24K, you can pick up a 2-3 year old Lexus ES330, and that car will last longer than any of the ones you listed, plus it's resale value will be higher.
I'll be selling electric actuators.... would a Mazda6 be considered too much of a sports car for an industrial product? I casually mentioned that I was thinking about the 6 this morning and my soon to be boss kinda made a face and said that he thought those cars were kinda small. So you may be on to something. I appreciate everyone's comments. I was shocked to see all of the input this morning. I owe you guys!
I need to ask them about getting a used car... not sure what the rules are with that, but you have a very good point. I am going to check into it. Thanks!
I love my WRX, though I've slightly modified it. *I don't really own a WRX, or a car for that matter.
I have an 03 Altima and I absolutely love it. Don't bother to buy one though unless you get the V6 3.5 SE. This car is a beast and I love driving it. I got mine for around $23,500. As far as power goes, I leave Accords in my dust daily.
I know I know. After 130k miles I finally had to replace the starter on my car. First major repair for the car that wasn't covered by warranty. CarMax gave me $4800 for the car - I was shocked since most dealers wouldn't go over $2500 and the blue book value was something like $4300. I decided to take it. I bought my new TL in October. This is one sweet ride. The surround sound 5.1 DVD Audio audio system is ridiculous. I swear there are times I just want to kick back in the car and just listen. The reason I chose it over the Infiniti was because the interior of the TL blows the doors off the G35. The performance is on par with the G35. The TL doesn't have RWD or rear folding seats. Reeeeally nice car and it hauls butt.
Ha! You can be like Leonardo DiCaprio and the other 'environmentally conscious' celebrities who save money on gas and don't pollute, yet live in 30,000 sq. foot mansions that use more energy that entire counties in Mississippi.
Turns out my Altima transmission problem is supposed to be covered under the warranty. Now, my experience with warranties is that the dealer will attempt to weasel out of covering it (it will somehow be my fault that the transmission has a significant problem), but I guess I have to give them the shot on fixing it. Turns out, there are also two outstanding recalls on the car, but they're secret recalls. They apparently aren't notifying customers, so they only find out about them when they come to the dealer for service.... Of course, a lot of people don't go to the dealer for service. So, I guess they just live with whatever problem the car has developed that needs to be fixed through the recall.
This happened to me once, the seatbelt latch was broken and I took it in and they said, "oh this is a recall...blah blah". They fixed it for free, but if I had been in a wreck - it was honda to which is a little surprising.
Thanks Rush, that was thoughtful and hilarious. If I may add a post-script: "emissions reduction," along with such programs as "recycling," "Medicare" and "civil liberties," is just another leftist conspiracy to allow secular elitists like Leo DiCaprio, Will Ferrel, Hillary Clinton, Bill White, Jesse Jackson, Howard Dean and the New York Times to take all your hard earned money and spend it on giving drugs to the poor -- the same folks who want to keep god and guns out of our schools. You can not trust a liberal farther than you can throw them, and with your bad back, you shouldn't be throwing anything. Besame mucho Bill O Reilly
Have you done the calc's on this? I remember running some numbers on this and from what I recall, you had to own the car for around 10 years before you could say you really saved any money. I used the MPG savings as a reference. Of course if you're looking to be environmentally conscious, then it's definitely a plus.
How much was it going to be to replace the starter? Wasn't your max a '97? The reason why I ask is my max (which is a '97) has almost 100K miles and still $7100 left on the loan. I am hoping and praying that I can get 200K miles on my max; that is got to be a fluke that your starter went out - I mean that is not a common thing, I would think.
Hehe. I actually replaced the starter and sold the car about a month or two later. I just used that as an excuse to get the TL. Well, that and I was going to get $4800 for the Max and didn't want to put anymore into any repairs (in case they happened). Yes, mine was a '97.
If you want the ladies to drop their panties for a ride under 24k check this mofo out. http://www2.chroniclecars.com/vehicle_details.psp?id=235242014 1998 Porshe Boxter for $24,000 and only 35,000 miles. The new ES series body type just came out in 2003, and it looks much better than the previous ES IMO.
