Don't listen to people when they say, 'VW this and that...' I drive a Golf and it's great. No problems at all. Those few lemons have given VW's a bad rep. If you keep up your maint. and take care of your car, it'll last... you can get a gti, golf, or jetta for all under 24K.
I have a 4 year old jetta glx vr6. Here are the list of problems 4 power windows sunroof airbag fuel pump oxygen sensor mass air flow sensor coolant pump bumper fell off 4 times instrument cluster went out Had the engine replaced at 50K catalytic convertor a/c compressor going out rear brakes cost 400 dollars to replace oil filters cost 12 dollars All with less than 55K Only four car manufactures are worse than VW in reliability according to JD powers. Audi's are junk too since they are just souped up VW's.
Just a clarification: It is not the same engine - the regular Impreza has a 2.5L engine, the WRX a turbocharged 2.0L engine sporting 227 horse power. The WRX is a pretty fast, fun, sporty car. It also has AWD and ABS if you're worried about bad weather. It's also available in wagon form.
That piece of **** is ugly, slow as hell and expensive for a little econobox. You'd be better off getting a conventional Corolla which gets nearly 38 mpg on the hwy. The WRX is one helluva fine automobile. Turbocharged with AWD, that little sucker is fast and a ball to drive. Turbocharged cars are maintennance-intensive, but a ton of fun to drive. My car is like the Milenium Falcon, it is hardly stock, requires a ton of work, but it is the fastest piece of **** in the galaxy.
I bought an '02 Nissan Altima and had nothing but freaking problems with it. I had to have it TOWED 2 months after I bought it because it wouldnt start. There was a rattling in the headboard (a common problem for most Altima owners I found out) that was NEVER fixed. The 5 speed transmission was really stiff. The interior is cheaper than a Ford Festiva. The interior lights are a super bright pumpkin orange at night. The stereo sucks. Oh well.....
I see. If the risk is so low, why don't more manufacturers sell turbo/super - charged cars? Civics would be much more attractive if they sported 270-300 HP. Same with the intakes. They add HP, and they add life to the engine...what's the catch? XM is one of two satellite radio services. You can listen to it nationwide and it carries many exclusive radio stations.
Really? I think my Altima stereo sounds better than every other stock radio I've ever had in a car, and I've had a lot of cars. Perhaps compared to some aftermarket stuff, it wouldn't hold up as well, but I would think that true of the bulk of stock stereos. But I knew someone else had Altima problems, I just couldn't remember who it was.
The Honda Accord is a great car. It's comfortable and reliabel. You could also get a Hyundai Sonata that's 6 cyl. They are a good price and you could get all the bells and whistles whith it. The Hyundai cars now are extremely reliable, and the Sonata is a very comfortable ride.

The 2005 Altima has a revamped interior. Nissan/Infiniti skimped on the interior in favor of performance and a sweet engine. Enough people b****ed about it that they listened. It's one of the reasons I bought a TL over a G35. The G35's interior is supposed to be getting a makeover, too. Here's a link to some pics of the 2005 Altima. It's due to be released next month. http://www.nissantalk.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=141202 I kind of like the Mazda 6 now, too. I didn't at first, but it kinda grew on me. If you want a fairly inexpensive car with pep and styling, it's up there with any of its competitors.
Station wagons are now called SUV's... it's just not cool to call them station wagons anymore. The Pacifica is a glorified station wagon (pretty sweet looking, too). Have you checked out the 2005 Dodge Magnum
God that was funny. One of the smartest things to do is buy a nice car a few years old with an extended warranty. Cars depreciate the most during those first few years and you will save a lot of money while having a nicer ride. You can find some '01 BMW 3-series for under 24K.
I see the '05 Altima got a slight facelift, as well. Good for them for upgrading their car. It looks less cheap anyway. I wonder if they fixed the manual shifter (I've had a lot of manuals and never had the material around the shifter tear off). As of right now, I'd be hard pressed to buy another Nissan. Perhaps my standards are just too high, especially after 130K trouble-free miles in my Acura a few years back (and heck, even 70K trouble-free miles in my F-150, which was the vehicle I had just before the Audi. Neither of my cars since then has matched even that standard).
Wow, DoD - I didn't know that you had gotten a new vehicle. I thought you were still driving your Maxima. How long have you had your TL? I am surprised that you passed on the G35 (that is what I would like to have some day). I am with Pimp on this one - I would find a good used car that is 2 or 3 years old that brand new would be over $24K like a Maxima or even an entry-level Lexus.
Yep.... Thats another b**** of mine too mrpaige. I never got the material around the shifter replaced because I traded that POS in so I could get a real car - a Toyota. I will never buy another Nissan. They put all of their $$$$ in style and performance and the obvious shortcomings in the other areas stand out quite a bit.
