Great thread, but it gives me anxiety!!! :p

I'd prefer New Orleans or Portland at this point.

But killing Dirk and the Mavs in Houston would be great for any Rockets fan.

I think the entire playoff seedings depends on how much more(or less) playtime Kyle Lowry gets over Aaron Brooks...

I 100% agree and seriously don't understand why every single Rockets fan is not routing for the EXACT same thing.

He said Portland OR New Orleans. And if you go by just the scenarios available and give each game a 50/50 shot at going either way, there's a 5 in 8 chance (62.5%) of us facing either the Blazers or Hornets in the first round.

FYI, I will update this thread after the HOU-DAL and SA-NO games, before the DEN-POR game.

The Western Conference playoff teams are set and as if it were planned, each playoff team plays another playoff team in its final game of the season. Those games are:

    UTA@LAL – Lakers defeat Jazz
    HOU@DAL – Mavericks defeat Rockets
    NO@SA – Spurs defeat Hornets

    DEN@POR

There are 16 possible scenarios. I worked them all out and figured out the playoff seeding for each.

UPDATE 4/14: LA beat Utah. So there are now 8 scenarios left. I've grayed out the ones that are no longer applicable.

UPDATE 4/15: The Rockets lost and the Spurs won. So there are now only 2 scenarios remaining. I've deleted the ones that are no longer applicable.

The Spurs have won the Soutwest Division and the Rockets are in Danger of losing home court advantage. The Rockets will face the Blazers in the first round. All that's left to determine is who gets home court. If Portland beats Denver, the Rockets will be the #5 seed and start the playoffs on the road. If Denver wins, the Rockets will be #4 and open up against Portland at the Toyota Center

Below is a list of all the scenarios and the playoff seeds that accompany them. The Rockets and first round opponent are in RED BOLD.

Lakers beat Utah, Dallas beats Houston, San Antonio beats New Orleans, Denver beats Portland

    1. LA Lakers
    2. Denver
    3. San Antonio
    4. Houston
    5. Portland
    6. Dallas
    7. New Orleans
    8. Utah

    GREAT NEWS!

Guys this is the best possible scenario

We own portland. Home Court or not it doesn't matter.
    Easy first round win.
This really is the best possible matchup we could have hoped for.

Maybe I'm missing something... but if Portland wins tonight, they'll be tied with the Spurs... and since they have the tie-breaker against the Spurs 3-1, aren't they gonna be the 3rd the seed and Spurs the 4th? So aren't the two scenarios now either, Houston at San Antonio OR Portland at Houston?

The point is denver has the tiebreaker against Portland. so the matchup of west has been fixed regardless of portland-denver game. we are going to play blazers either with or w/o HCA

San Antonio is a division winner. Portland won't be, even if they win. Division winners win tiebreaks against non division winners. Therefore, San Antonio will be #3 and Portland will be #4.
