I would like Brand & Odom. As much as I like EG, I would definately give him up for Brand straight up. Odom is still that missing piece we need at SF. A point guard oriented SF that has the capability to average a triple double a night.

Here is the biggest reason why you get a player such as Elton. SHAQ! Yao Ming needs a little more muscle which Elton could provide on double teams. Other than that I see no reason why the team we have is not better than an Elton Brand trade. But you have to admit it would be a good reason to make a trade for him.
I doubt anyone will offer Brand a contract, but the Clippers. The Clippers will probably match Max for Brand or they wouldn't have traded away the #2 pick for him. I don't think other teams will be willing to offer Brand max knowing the Clippers will match.
I don't think there is any way that we can get Elton Brand but with Steerling you never know. Elton Brand puts the POWER back into Power Forward. He is a true low post player that plays physical and might be the strongest player in the league outside of Shaq.
I think every team with money will be offering him a max deal. They are going to think the opposite, that Sterling will not match or cannot afford to max him out if he also signs Odom to a fairly large contact. Brand can hold out til training camp, to make Sterling sweat and possibly give up some other contracts to Odom, etc.. Sterling will probably have to match other offers on Odom as well. Brand could also sign a one year offer sheet with another team, which I think would make him a un-restricted free agent after one year if Sterling decides to match. Bottom line the Rockets have nothing the Clippers want in a trade, so it would have to happen in FA. Clippers like draft picks, and the Rockets are tied up for the next 3 years (Memphis next year, we keep year after, and Atlanta gets our 3rd one).
If you think Steve Francis is bad about assists, if you get Odom the ball will only be passed Francis/Mobley/Odom.Please keep him away from our Team. The only untouchables are Francis and Yao Ming. If we need to have BRAND and I think we do! We must be prepared to trade anyone except the big TWO and also be prepared to pay him the MAX ala Steve Francis. A team can have three Stars at max. which is 75% of the total salary, with the other 25% you need 9 Role Players.
We don't owe anyone draft picks after this year's pick going to Memphis from the Francis trade. The Atlanta pick was for the pick traded to us for Mirsad Turckan, not for any of our picks. The debt for Morris is paid in full, at least from our end. We still have the first round or 2 second round picks coming to us from Chicago, too. We could trade away as many future picks as we want, as long as they aren't in consecutive years, but that's true with any team. All this speculation about Brand, though, in my opinion, is premature. I would ABOSOLUTELY LOVE to get Brand. He would be a perfect fit here, and I'd move anyone but Ming and Francis to get him. I really do hope that Sterling continues his pattern of spending. But, there is an error in everyone's thinking here, since the only FA's this summer are Olowakandi and Piatkowski. Brand, Miller, Odom, and Maggette aren't FA's until the following year. So, if Sterling continues in his cheap approach, we won't see any of those guys traded until a year from now. They are all under their rookie contracts, which are cheap. Why would he trade them now? It'll be interesting to watch what is done with Kandi, though. I think that will give us hints on whether he will continue that policy. But, we might not even know that until the end of the summer, and Sterling might even match anything he's offered, just to keep the other four happy. But, even if Sterling isn't cheap, how can he sign all these guys NEXT year? 3 Max contracts is an awful lot... and I'd love to get Miller, too. By then, Marco Juric may be able to take over, and they might be willing to trade Miller for Mobely and draft picks. Unless Sterling stays cheap, he sure wouldn't get rid of Brand. But, if he does, I'd let go of Mobely. Mobely would be appealing to them, also, due to his friendship with Odom and his cheap contract. And, I think we'd be a better team with Francis at SG and Miller at PG... of course, this would only work if Francis went along with it, in his desire to reach a championship. But, all this speculation about getting Brand now, or even this summer, is premature, in my opinion.
Isn't Brand a Falk guy? MoT, too? And Rice? If that is correct the getting of Brand is a route through Falksville, and that's a place where Rudy/CD know the roads.
I would do anything, include trade anyone other than yao and francis.. .for elton brand... Elton brand still has his best years ahead of him, he is very young, and he is a true power forward. I really go for the rebound, he wants the rebound. Griffin is no comparison to brand right now, even potential wise, I think brand still has more potential, and brand already realize a lot of his potential, whereas griffin is still trying to figure it out. however, I doubt the rockets would be able to get brand let's just be content to have griffin
