since he seems to be testing the hypothesis that what he really ate wasn't seagull and was in fact his crew, why did he ever eat it in the first place. eh, at least i thought fadeaway was right. and what was with west coast again. cuz only west coast natives will go cannibal on yo ass?
damn all this action and an answer while i was on my way home from work. I think fade should burn a copy of the game and send to me for all the info i guessed at. CK
damnit...this all happens when the one moment i have to actually leave the lounge and go do some work...bah
That's the point. The answer is whatever the "riddler" wishes it to be. The fun (torture?) is in guiding the "riddlees" to the solution. I've read the answer as involving his wife... not so in this version.
This Captain is pretty dumb. What made him suddenly realize it was his crew? I mean, OK, so he wasn't eating Seagulls earlier. However, there were people on the "island" or whatever, obviously, and they ate SOMETHING to live. How did he know it wasn't rodent or some other bird or fish? Also, did he not wonder earlier where his crew went off to? He must have known they were dead. Did he not go find their bodies? Or wonder how they died? Seems like he lacked a lot of information before deciding to just blow his head off!!!
The full version is this: The Sea Captain was shipwrecked with many of his crew on a desert island. There were natives on the island (cannibles) they killed off the crew one by one, and fed it to the rest of them. They told the Captain that he was eating seagull. They left the captain alone because he was a man of authority in his tribe and thus a man to be respected by them. Slowly over the time all his men perished and were consumed by the natives and the Captain. Upon rescue the Captain went to a restaraunt noticed Sea Gull on the menu and for old times sake he ordered it. When it got to him, he took one bite and realized that what he ate was not seagull at all but his crew, and he pulled out his pistol and killed himself. I have another one that is pretty good, I will post it on another one of my slow days. As for copying my game...sure..go ahead.....I am working on another one now. DaDakota
Again, I don't see how the restaurant being on the west coast had any bearing on the answer to this riddle...
It was all a trick. The captain never would have shot himself, he would have said "YAAARRRR", and made himself walk the plank >:|
Most of the inhabited islands are in the Pacific, he was shipwrecked in the pacific ocean. The point is to ask questions to get to the final solution, not to get caught up in the verbage. DaDakota
DaDakota where do you work? and what is this game u made what is it called? what system is it for? I was at school while this was going on i would love to do this sometime, make sure next time u do it on a Friday night or something lol.
that's not the only version. There's another version that would have awarded Mrs. Jeff. Like why would cannibles feed their ritualistic dinners to others? Why not just give the captain lame ass seagulls. It doesn't make sense. The more logical version is the crew ate themselves, because there was nothing else to eat, but the Captain wouldn't allow it....so, they lied to him, about seagull pie. There is another versions where 3 guys got shipwrecked and were friends. One died, and the other two were divided on whether to eat him. The one who didn't want to eat him was lied to.
RM95, Of course you agree with Major he is your boss. Sonics GM, I work at a company called Fever Pitch Studios Inc. http://www.feverpitchstudios.com/ We have a game out called Conquest Frontier Wars, it is an RTS game much like StarCraft only with much more depth. DaDakota
But you said the fact that the restaurant was on the west coast was relevant to the final answer, but it turns out to not be. One could just as easily get to the answer if the restaurant was in Boston...
Paige, It is only relevant if people ask questions about Cannibals and the Pacific ocean. The relevance is that he was just rescued, and since no one asked about the time of his rescue, and it being his first meal back on shore...... That is the relavance. DaDakota
Well, when we are in the dark and asking questions, the verbage is all we have to go on. It is kind of hard to not get "caught up" in it.
