Alston has shown no signs of being a Playmaker, even though he gets assists.
Bonzi so far hasn't shown any signs that he has the mental capacity to make the effort to loose that fat and get NBA fit!! Nor has he shown during the last 12 months that he is a decent player. So Bonzi has a long way to go before he will get back on my positive listings!! :p

Why not trade 1 scorer for 3 instead?

    Trade w/PHX:

    McGrady
    Sura
    Lucas

    FOR

    Marion
    Barbosa
    Bell
    2007 1st

    New Roster

    Yao
    Marion
    Battier
    Bell
    Barbosa

Barbosa is the anti-Alston: better finisher, better D

Yao would be surrounded by the best perimeter defending team in the league.

Resign Bonzi to come off the bench, package the 2 firsts & Luther to move into the lottery & take Noah (groom behind Yao/Marion).

Houston not only becomes younger and more athletic, but would finally be more balanced with better depth, better to compete beyond the first round in the post season.

Move Skip to the bench or trade him. Same with Juwan (would strongly consider trading Howard for Miles & Blazers 2 2007 2nd round picks - draft PG Bobby Brown / Jared Jordan & SF/PF Avis Wyatt).

    PG - Barbosa, Spanoulis, Brown/Jordan
    SG - Bell, Wells, Snyder
    SF - Battier, Miles, Novak
    PF - Marion, Noah, Wyatt
    C - Yao, Mutombo

    Deal works for PHX too:

    PG - Nash
    SG - McGrady
    SF - Diaw
    PF - Stoudemire
    C - Thomas

Can also go small with Amare at C and McGrady-Diaw at Forward spots.
