read it again. No one said that. It read: Russell could easily trump Jordan by stating, "We are the only team who has ever won 8 championships in a row." That looks like a fictional quote the writer made to suggest how Russell could trump Jordan. Doesn't look like it had anything to do with what Jordan did or would say.
Yes, that is true. Hakeem basically carried the team. But when the other players weren't clicking, it was ulgy.
Exactly! Those three were able to create on their own. They had natural talent. I'd have to add Carl Herrea as the sixth man. Watching Smith, Horry and Thorpe create on their own was downright scary (not good).
...but if the Knicks had won they WOULD have been one of the great championship teams, right? B%&#S*@&$!
No. But they would have been considered a more balanced team (easier to watch). The thing is, we had a Hakeem (the equalizer) and Starks choked (missed all those threes).
Those Knicks were easier to watch? What? Those Knick teams of Riley's set basketball back into the dark ages.
If I'm not mistaken, the Rockets were 5-1 against the bulls 1st 3 championship teams. Hey, Mike. You had a great career, but it's over. Now go away.
Weren't they like the lowest team in history ever to win a whole playoff series? (don't quote me on that).. i mean they'd have less of a court advantage in each series and they like played every game in the series.. they weren't the prettiest winning team.. but damn they had alot of guts p.s. finally i got to my 100th post..
Talentless??? You got to be kidding me. The Lakers are the prime example of a talentless team that has won. We had to do it without the help of the refs, most of the time in spite of them. I guess Mark Madsen would've just had his way with the Rockets.
We had 50+ wins during the '94 championship run. In 1995, we were the lowest-ever seed (6th) to win a championship.
i thought we had the best record in the league that year and wasn't that the year when we started like 15-0?
there always was an excuse for jordan. he didnt make it to the finals in 95 -- excuse: the bulls didnt win because he didnt play basketball all year. its funny how this excuse never came up when he scored 55 against the knicks shortly after his return. after that game, everyone was raving about how great he was. no one mentioned him being 'rusty' until after the bulls were eliminated. even in individual games, there was always an excuse for jordan. he misses 30 shots in a game -- its because he had the flu two weeks ago. or its because he hurt his ankle a couple of days earlier (as if no other players ever play hurt) on to another topic -- my conspiracy theory: i always wondered about the bulls 72 win season. i'm not totally positive, but i think every time the bulls played a good team, the bulls would be coming off some rest while their opponents were always on a second day of a back to back. add in all the calls that the bulls got, and it makes me wonder how much the nba helped the bulls get these 72 victories
Excuse me; the Rockets are NOT the worst champs ever!! I think it that would be the SA SPURS during that abbreviated season due to playas striking. For the 1st time I would have to agree w/ Phil Jackson saying that the championship didn't count or put an * by it. I believe the season was only 40 games or so. That whole season suk.
