Loved both of these classic 90s compilation albums. Sonic Youth covering the Carpenters is perhaps the greatest cover song concept ever. Also, late 90s, but the soundtrack to the film Velvet Goldmine was some great faux 90s Glam Rock:

KoRn is probably a bit much for the list so far but I'd put them before any of that kid rock stuff on the other page, haha Tried to post a few forgotten ones, I mean obviously AIC/NIN/Tool or any other band with multiple hits in the 90s could dominate a rock list.
