#9 Texas at #24 Texas Tech
    6 p.m. October 23rd
    Jones SBC Stadium
    TV: TBS
    Line: Texas -1.5 O/U: 61

Tech will spank Texas this Saturday. Texas has an awsome running game but ZERO passing attack. If Tech can get on the board early and often, Texas will be screwed as they have zero comeback ability. As TCU and KU found out, no lead is safe vs Tech. Nebraska found out how tough Tech is in Lubbock and Texas doesn't have a great history of winning in Lubbock. Texas does have a nice defense that is capable of putting pressure on Tech. Texas must force turnovers, control the clock and run successfully in order to win. If Tech canprotect the ball and Cumbie, I don't see any reason why Tech won't be able to pass all over Texas and win this game.

    Texas 21
    Tech 48

The prevailing school of thought is that TT will destroy Texas, as far as I can tell. Kind of shocking given the respective rankings despite how lackluster UT has been on offense lately. Anyway, isn't having a decent defense and a strong running game that can play keepaway the key to beating a pass-happy team like Tech? I remember watching a game last year where Missouri just humiliated them, all on the ground.

Radio will have another tough day throwing the ball. Tech defense will key in on Benson, forcing him to throw the ball. End result -> lots of incompletions and turnovers. Tech runs away in the 2nd half.

No they won't. You see, they're playing Texas. :D

If Texas can run the ball and eat up clock, they may have a chance. I remember the game up there two years ago when Texas tried to outscore Tech and we know how that went.

Tech may score close to 34, but no way Tech holds Texas to 17.

The USA Today line (Sheridan, I think) had Texas as a 2 point favorite...so it's pretty close to a pick 'em. I definitely wouldn't put any money on this game. There's no tellin' if this is the game where Tech's offense goes south. Should be entertaining though.

true, Missouri beat Tech 61-32 last year while rushing for 469 yards

Tech had 3 turnovers the first 4 times they had the ball in that game (5 turnovers overall). That is how you beat Tech, force early TOs and control the ball, keeping that offense off the field. Can Texas do this in Lubbock?

Tech's D is much better this year and Texas doesn't have R.Williams, BJ Johnson or Sloan Thomas to throw to anymore.

I think you guys are high.

Don't you think that if people really thought Tech had the ability to rape the 11th ranked team in the country, they'd be ranked a wee bit higher? How did theynot even get within a sniff of the initial BCS ranking but A&M did?

By your reasoning A&M should beat UT by 60.

Tech MIGHT - and I stress might - win, but it will be close.

cumbie will throw this game away. He randomly throws the ball straight at a defender. ut's defense will be the difference in this one they might score 2 or 3 times as long as cubmie is the qb.

One area where Tech is sure to lose is in competing with the Texas fans in a pessimistic, moribund-self pitying contest....:p

Edit: upstaged by mcable again by a few seconds. For an amish guy he really is quick witted.

    question to the longhorn faithful:

if it took another 1-2 more losses for brown to get canned as well as his coaching staff, would you take the losses? How about risking the possible recruits from Brown and Davis? Supposedly, Ryan Perrilloux, the top high school QB recruit in the nation has said that if there was any turnover in the coaching staff, he might look somewhere else.

Personally, if it took a loss to tech this wknd and a loss to a&m to get brown fired, and get spurrier or someone with big game know how hired, then i'm all for trashing this season. Brown is a terrible big game coach and was supposed to be a great recruiter but b/c adrian peterson left for OU, you can throw great recruiter out as well. As far as losing Perrilloux, you gotta take your lumps and spurrier is no slouch at recruiting either.

we don't beat OU until Brown is gone and i'm tired of watchin the ugliest color in the world (crimson red) celebrating the first week of october and constant trips to freaking san diego
