Do you feel well qualified to speculate that the odds that some form of 'God' exists, or is it just your opinion? I don't see it being so unreasonable that the chances of a higher power existing are so much less unlikely than the idea that our recent government's primary focus is our 'own collective welfare and protection'. The biggest problem I have with a number of these folks is that they are blindly partisan to Bush's regime, and only came out during Obama's administration, which I believe to be a mere extension of Bush's policies, but with different rhetoric and spin. They are making a positive statement, but for possibly dubious reasons (no pun intended).
The US Constitution does empower the government to look after our welfare. Article I Section 8 Section 8. The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States;
DC Metro in cahoots with Obama administration -- Tea Party Protesters Protest D.C. Metro Service Protesters who attended Saturday’s Tea Party rally in Washington found a new reason to be upset: Apparently they are unhappy with the level of service provided by the subway system. Rep. Kevin Brady called for a government investigation into whether the government-run subway system adequately prepared for this weekend’s rally to protest government spending and government services. Seriously. The Texas Republican on Wednesday released a letter he sent to Washington’s Metro system complaining that the taxpayer-funded subway system was unable to properly transport protesters to the rally to protest government spending and expansion. “These individuals came all the way from Southeast Texas to protest the excessive spending and growing government intrusion by the 111th Congress and the new Obama administration,” Brady wrote. “These participants, whose tax dollars were used to create and maintain this public transit system, were frustrated and disappointed that our nation’s capital did not make a great effort to simply provide a basic level of transit for them.” A spokesman for Brady says that “there weren’t enough cars and there weren’t enough trains.” Brady tweeted as much from the Saturday march. “METRO did not prepare for Tea Party March! More stories. People couldn’t get on, missed start of march. I will demand answers from Metro,” he wrote on Twitter. Brady says in his letter to Metro that overcrowding forced an 80-year-old woman and elderly veterans in wheelchairs to pay for cabs. He concludes that it “appears that Metro added no additional capacity to its regular weekend schedule.”
There is a massive difference in context between most instances of "white pride" and "black pride". When James Brown says (loudly), "I'm black and I'm proud," he's responding to those who imply that being black is something of which to be ashamed. I honestly can't think of a single example of someone saying they're proud to be white for any other reason than to disparage those who are not. Are there black people who use race to exploit, inflame, or incite? Absolutely. It goes to show that words can have different meanings and different effects under varying circumstances. Arguing over whether "white pride" vs. "black pride" is acceptable--detached from context--is a meaningless exercise.
Please define "some form of God" because I doubt the people at the 9/12 protest were referring to a deistic, pantheistic or the fly spaghetti monster god. They were referring to the personal god from the Christian bible and I think the odds of that god existing are so low it's not even worth considering it's existence.
