    As much as Beasly got knocked down, he needs to put on some muscle. The guy can flat out fly with the ball, but I cringe everytime someone makes any kind of contact with him.

    The Mexican defense was totally lost on those plays they got scored on. I think the US was well prepared for this match and did NOT let Borgetti catch a breath of air. The midfield for Mexico was terrible (Torrado, was attrocious I thought) and just flat out outplayed. This game basically came down to who made less mistakes and Mexico let down their guard in the first five minutes of the 2nd half. Two costly mistakes by the defense.

    Oguchi Onyewu has done an excellent job to contain Borgetti. He has practically wrestled with the Mexican striker all game long.

    We need some more of those type of players. Big six feet four, couldn't exactly play basketball or football, but I can run around knocking them crazy euros and our neighors down south.

    The staredown.

    Gooch messed up in Mexico and allowed Borgetti to score, he wasn't going to let that happen again. He's also been great on set peices, he's scored a couple himself and set up the first goal last night.

    I have a strange feeling you'd be singing a different song if your team wouldn't have gotten their butts kicked.

    If you really were volunteerting, then kudos. If not, that has to be the weakest comeback in history.

    :eek: Sorry, man. It WAS a weak comeback [crickets]. You didn't see the ;) ??

    We lost. We sucked BIG time. We got our ass kicked. We simply played BADly. We played WORSE. I think I am still spitting some of my own blood from biting my lip. Very dirty playing on both parts, but much more by Mexico's defense. No doubt about that.

    Never invite women to watch a soccer game. They will taunt you if your team loses. :mad:

    leroy420, going back to some stuff you say before about how [most of us Mexicans] don't get that the United States of America are "at the level" of Mexican futbol: NO WAY IN HELL. Yes, you're getting better. Yes, you're getting stronger. De eso no hay duda.

    That would be like saying the Milwaukee Bucks will be as good as the Houston Rockets (except, of course, Mexico has never won 2 championships :D).
    --------
    :eek: Perdón. Sí fue mala contestación [grillos]. ¿No viste el ;) ?

    Perdimos. La cagamos GACHO. Nos dieron una paliza. Simplemente jugamos muy mal. Jugamos peor.

    Except for the fact that the Bucks haven't been dominating the Rockets for the past six years.

    A better example would be a Celtics fan saying they are better than the Rockets simply because they have more championships. While historically they may be better they aren't right now. And while Mexico may historically be better than the US right now they aren't, and that's been proven many times (like the world cup for example).

    arno_ed: That's a perfect example of Mexicans not respecting us. They get beat and say it's only because they didn't play well instead of admitting that the US is simply a better team. Then they throw out the "we've always been better" card as justification.

    I don't believe that the USA is actually that much better than Mexico. I believe they are both mediocre, but Mexico has the better name and history. They're pretty much on the same level, it's not really a shock if either wins or loses a match against the other. I think that's the simple truth and most would agree. At the moment USA is perhaps a tad stronger, but nothing that one or two bad results would change.

    I do like the fact that there is such a strong rivalry. At least it creates some competition and great happiness if one team wins. That's what I love about football!

    Being ranked 5th and 6th in the world respectively, is a pretty good "mediocre" in my book.

    Lol, are you looking at the FIFA rankings?! Heck, Holland is 3rd or 2nd in the world according to those and I think we are somewhere in the top 10, no way 3rd or 2nd at the moment. There's more to football than results; specially if the best team you ever face is Mexico.

    Can't you just say it? USA played well. They were good.

    Reminds me of when fans of other teams justify it by saying they played like crap....well can't you figure that the reason you lost is because the other team played great?

    ;)

    Didn't the U.S beat Brazil in a friendly a couple of years ago? I believe they did.

    I'm not claiming we are a world super power in soccer, but to say we aren't "at the level" of Mexico as SwoLy-D put it is wrong. They haven't been able to score a goal on us outside of Mexico for over five years, and we play each other two or three times a year.

    DrLudicrous, definitely. I agree. USA is definitely on the same level, and within that level actually better than Mexico at the moment (just by a little bit I think). If the two teams were not on the same level, why is the competition at such a pressure point at the moment? Holland has rivalries with Belgium and Germany, and this is heightened to extremes when both teams are in the same neighbourhood in terms of power.

    Holland = Zero World Cups
    Spain = Zero World Cups
    Hungary = Zero World Cups
    England has one world cup, but they seem less likely to win another anytime soon. The one thing the USA has going for them is potential. Our soccer league is still a long way from being anywhere near those of europe or south america for that matter. But the league does help the national team, which will eventually help us in the WC.
