Tonight at 7:30 PM CST on ABC A few predictions: Best Picture: Boyhood Best Director: Alejandro G. Iñárritu (Birdman) Best Actor: Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything) Best Actress: Julianne Moore (Still Alice) Best Supporting Actor: J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) Best Supporting Actress: Keira Knightley (The Imitation Game) Best Animated Film: Big Hero 6 So many good movies this year.
Based on current odds: Best Picture: Birdman Best Director: Alejandro G. Iñárritu (Birdman) Best Actor: Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything) Best Actress: Julianne Moore (Still Alice) Best Supporting Actor: J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) - 1/100 odds it seems like they know he is going to win Best Supporting Actress: Patricia Arquette - Boyhood - 1/100 odds Best Animated Film: HTTYD2
I really liked Imitation Game, but I thought Keira Knightley was the one weak link in it. Not because her acting would have been terrible, but because she just doesn't make a very credible math nerd.
I think the actor/actress winners are all pretty easy choices this year (Redmayne, Moore, Simmons, Arquette) Really good list of movies. No stinkers in the group unlike most years (The Theory of Everything might be a notch below the others). I'd be fine with any of the movies winning
I really hope Ida wins *something* -- was the best movie I saw during 2014. I think it's up for Best Foreign Film and Cinematography too.
What I want: Best Picture: Whiplash Best Director: Richard Linklater (Boyhood) Best Actor: Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything) Best Actress: Julianne Moore (Still Alice) Best Supporting Actor: J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) Best Supporting Actress: Meryl Streep (Into the Woods) Best Animated Film: Boxtrolls What it will be: Best Picture: Birdman Best Director: Richard Linklater (Boyhood) Best Actor: Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything) Best Actress: Julianne Moore (Still Alice) Best Supporting Actor: J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) Best Supporting Actress: Patricia Arquette (Boyhood) Best Animated Film: HTTYD 2
I saw Wild Tales and it's by far the funniest sh-t I've seen in a long time. Very dark humor though. Leviathan was fantastic but incredibly depressing. Hope either wins.

Go Coogs. Interesting note : Richard Linklater's and Matthew Mcconaughey's dads played on the same team, and same position, at the University of Houston. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1952_Houston_Cougars_football_team
i thought whiplash was a Great great movie also. the only other oscar movie i have seen this year was boyhood.
