Bull. If your bank misplaces $5,000 out of your checking account, they can't blow it off by saying, "Hey, it was your money not ours." We're their bankers and we'll make it up one way or the other. And it is interesting to note that this is the fund that has more open accounting systems then what we have appropriated ourselves. I'll bet a paycheck we'll end up having misplaced more than $8.8 billion and that the mismanagement will touch several accounts.
Actually, I was rounding up from 360,000. That's why it is *almost* 400,000. In addition, much of that cost could be at community colleges for the first two years and only the last two years would cost $3000-$4000 per semester. Still, that would be a LOT of students. It is a personal issue for me as I am not able to afford school this semester because of tuition increases, pay decreases, and the school no longer picking up the tab. I really don't know WHAT I am going to do when I start at UHCL.
No, but what you can say is that your thread title is misleading. This is not 8 billion US dollars of our tax money missing. Also, it says the money was disbursed to Iraqi ministries. That's my point. Iraqi money disbursed to Iraqis. In your analogy what would actually have happened is that you withdrew money but I haven't told you what you can and can not do with your money, and I haven't followed up to verify what you've spent the money on. Which would be like following you to the grocery store and demanding to see your receipt. I'm afraid I'd call the police a teller from my bank did that...
Except you're also in control of the grocery store, just as we were/are in virtual control of the Iraqi ministries. You're also telling me what I can buy at the grocery store down to the specific brands and what I can't. You also supply the shopper to go and get the stuff.
