According to 82games, it looks like Brooks and Lowry got blocked at almost the exact same clip throughout the course of the season. Lowry actually got blocked at a higher rate close and inside than Brooks.

    Lowry: http://www.82games.com/0809/08HOU3.HTM

    Brooks: http://www.82games.com/0809/08HOU1.HTM

And, once again, Brooks had a higher AFG% than Lowry. AFG% basically factors in the impact of the 3 ball without consideration for FTM.

Lowry is among the elite in PPS because of how often he gets to the line. He is also a surprisingly good mid-range shooter. Hopefully, he develops a reliable 3pt shot. That would make Lowry pretty unstoppable and give him a complete game.

You seem to enjoy your stats a lot, but I'll listen to Stan Van Gundy saying PGs jobs are not to get the stats, but to run an offense and to make everybody's life easier and clearly that would be Lowry.

You can enjoy your stats, but it doesn't mean Brooks > Lowry automatically.

So you are saying Adelman is an idiot for keeping Brooks in there?? I mean, surely the head coach can see what is going on out there that Lowry is such a better fit along side Yao.

And did Stan say that after they made a trade to bring in a poor shooter to run their offense after Nelson went down??

No other team in the league faces the constraints of running an offense through an immobile big man. Obviously, Yao is our best player and for that reason, I do believe that Brooks will end up getting traded sooner or later. If you are running an offense through a player with Yao's limitations, you need elite passers on the perimeter, something Brooks definitely is not. It will be interesting to see how Brooks develops in a more standard offensive system.

I can agree with you there. I prefer Brooks playing in the 2nd lineup and not playing with Yao. I probably wouldn't be calling Brooks these names like "a speck of dirt" If it weren't for him starting and causing havoc on offense especially when we have a guy like Ron Artest can explode his head anytime and can chuck himself.

And You do understand I was just overreacting with the speck of dirt comment right?

Since about the 4th game after Lowry arrived, I've been saying he's the better PG. I think Lowry is terrific in almost every facet of the game and I'm ecstatic that he's a Houston Rocket. Morey struck gold in that trade.

My last few posts were only pointing out some invalid statements you made about Brooks.

Props for your owning up to "going a bit too far". If all the similar complaints against Brooks or other Rockets players over the years were met with this much of a second thought from the poster this place would be a far better place.

And I believe fully that after an offseason and a training camp with the team Lowry will be starting next year with Brooks off the bench. But right now, he is the best fit simply because he knows the spots on the offense. If he ever gets that hesitatancy and unsuredness out of the way Brooks will be an impressive offensive player.

Believe me, I get frustraded with Brooks, too. I actually went on record during the 1st half of Game 6 against Portland that if the game is close in the 4th quarter and Lowry isn't in the game, I'll be at a loss for words. Brooks ended up having a pretty good game and the score never really got close. In fact, we couldn't score with Lowry and the 2nd unit on the court for the first few minutes of the 4th quarter. Wafer and Brooks hit a few big shots after Brooks came back in and we never looked back.

I want Brooks to succeed but I want the Rockets to succeed above all else. I definitely feel more safe with Lowry on the court in crunch time.

Do you know the basic of basket ball? If you move to catch the ball, he will lose his position. So he must first fight for the post and then demands the ball.

No, this is why you start closer than you really want it. Give yourself room to step out to meet the pass and not give up much of your position. If you refuse to step out to meet the pass, it takes that much of a tougher pass to get it to you. The longer its in the air the easier it is for another player to get to it.

So would Magic or Pippen, or even Odom. The point? The Rox need a tall and long point guard if they still believes Yao is their foundation. TMac certainly could be it but he needs to get his mind sanitized first.

These guys don't even know how to throw lob pass to Yao.

it's a joke. We'll see what happens tonight.

Judging by your analysis, we can tell who doesn't know anything about basketball. If the ball is a little out ur range, its the receivers responsibility to secure the ball. You can anchor with the left leg and extend out to get the ball and still keep your position.

you are ridiculous. it's very obvious that Yao was fighting the position, sealing his man behind and facing Brooks. THAT MEANS HE WANTED THE BALL. not every time he has to raise hands up to call for ball. I have ever been a guard. it's easy for me to understand.

The question is will these guys ever learn?

Nice link. I found it so bullseye im going to quote it again.

"They won with Yao Ming getting the ball, and Yao Ming shooting the ball. That's the ticket to the next round. And if you don't have the guts to fire an entry pass that isn't anything less than a 100 percent certitude to get to the big man, than you don't deserve to move on. Simple as that. Find your go-to man, or go home."
