When Yao has position like he did in the video, I'd much rather Brooks attempt a pass then dribble into traffic.

its our perimeter passers were good, they would be able to find yao

there were numerous opportunities to pass him the ball...

you can't wait til its 110 percent that yao can catch the ball......

since when were there a championship team with a starting pg like brooks???

You guys are missing the point. It's the decision. There is a choice: Throw it into Yao and risk turnover, or try to create off the dribble. At the moment of choice, with the crafty Gasol hanging on Yao's back or side its a pretty big risk. Whatever happens 10 seconds after the choice does not matter.

Of the 4 plays shown, 1 has been shown to be faulty analysis. The other should not have happened because Brooks should have taken the 3 pointer. The other 2 where we had penetration nobody else was moving around. When a guy penetrates he is creating different angles for making passes. If the other offensive players aren't moving its very easy to trap the ball.

Just look at game 6 vs portland. Players moving without the ball was great that game. Yao even ROLLED after a pick and was wide open for a dunk! Guys were moving around. Brooks drifted to spots after Artest penetrated.

    Its on ALL of them.

Brooks has to be less hesitant when the open shot is there.

Artest needs to pull it back when 3 guys are in his way.

Scola needs to find that spot for his 16 footer.

Battier needs to drift up so his man that is now sagging isnt also keeping between his man and the ball.

Yao needs to play smarter and move like he did in Portland game 6.

    Bob Sura
    David Wesley
    Steve Francis
    Cuttino Mobley
    Boki Nachbar
    Jimmy Jackson
    Jon Barry
    Moochie Norris
    Rafer Alston
    John Lucas 3
    Aaron Brooks
    Ryan Bowen
    Kyle Lowry
    Von Wafer

had trouble making an entry pass to:

    Yao Ming

I'd be a lot more inclined to say something about the first list if that second list were a bit longer.

Agree. Or simply move Brooks to the bench and play him less minutes..

I disagree, Rafer can entry pass Yao, so is Kyle Lowry.. Also, didn't you notice the majority of the guys were being traded?

so if yao can't catch an entry pass, then we should get rid of him?

More like, when a short PG can't pass and has low basketball IQ, we get rid him..

I know McGrady is about as popular around here as Stalin, but he's been the best on the Rockets ever since he got here. He did a lot of things well for our team before the knee injury this year. Just sayin'.

that point is moot since basically all of those guys were journeymen. noone in the league can pass to a yao while he's fronted, because yao is incapable of catching the ball while he's fronted.

if we wanted to force feed yao, we'd still have Van Gundy here and we'd be dumping it to him every time down. that worked wonders didnt it? two first round exits.

Anybody who thinks those were easy entry passes do not understand basketball.

On each play there was pressure on the passer it would have to be a lob or a bounce pass giving the defender a chance to react to the pass.

The other issues where Yao was either moving or there was a defender helping on his backside which was never accounted for.

The only pass that should have been attempted was the repost on the pass from Battier to Brooks all of the others were a 50/50 proposition at best, the bottom line is Yao must work on being stronger in holding position and react better to the pass.

Watch the video please, and once again, watch the video please.. Yao did has position and wasn't being fronted..

Yeah, I would expect Brooks to be a journeyman as well if he keep playing like this..

He is talking about when Artest gets the ball in the post. Makes no difference if he catches it on a swing pass. That wasn't his point. When Artest goes down to the block the ball still gets to him. How many times does Battier post up and they cant get it to him??

    T-Mac??

    Scola???

Wow...Watching the game, I didn't realize that they were blatantly ignoring Yao, for some reason, it seemed more like LA was just doing a great job on Yao.

This is good though, like Phil said after Game 1, there's no way our team will deny Yao any worse than they did in game 2

Whatever you say, you have to admit that quick and decisive pass/shoot from Shane Battier is usually successful, but hesitant and indecisive pass from AB is not. The more hesitant, the more he makes it difficult for himself. Yao Ming has been played the same way these years, and his turnover rate is stable.

Do you watch games? Artest's post position is far further out than Yao. For Artest, if he can't receive ball deep, he just post up further out. For Yao, that's useless. In any case, comparing Artest's post up, who can much more effectively put the ball on the floor, to Yao Ming's is ridiculous. If Artest can get the ball deep every time as you suggested, he would score 90% of them.

Er. Decisive shoot/pass from Shane is good. True. Hesitant and indecisive shots/passes from Brooks is bad. True. But the inverse is also true:

i watched the video, and while Yao isn't being fronted, Pau is creeping over his side as soon as a potential pass is about to made. It's still a very risky pass, because Pau has deflected that pass many times already.

From that video, I see Yao not completely sealing off Pau. He's defintely trying to seal him off, but he's too slow to actually do it. As a result, Pau is quick enough to creep over his side and more than likely deflect an entry pass.

Those are risky passes for the simple fact that Pau is creeping over Yao's side at every opportunity.
