They're 1-2 without T-Mac. They beat Orlando recently without him in Stevie's return to Houston. They'll be ok without Sura tonight(but God help them tomorrow in San Antonio if he's out). It's just the longterm possibility of him missing time that concerns me. I really hope it's just sore and doesn't require more surgery or rehab.

He went to Vegas, and somehow hurt his back when he was there ;)

    Sorry, couldn't refuse.

Seriously though, Rox will have a tough time tonight without him. Hope it'll be just one or two games.

Maybe Sura is taking one for the team so they can trade away Mo without any mutanies.

    Did the Rockets practice yesterday?
Did he get hurt at practice?

Pretty cool Sura went to Vegas after that winning streak.
    Feeling Lucky??? ;)

Where the rockets get hurt in losing Sura is on those long rebounds especially against teams like the Sonics who hoist a ton of 3's. His scappiness will be missed.

Good god everyone is going off on Rod...a few things

    a) He hasn't shot well, yes. But he has played okay, distributed the ball well, and overall hasn't been a turnover machine or anything. He's done a great job penetrating when necessary. If he can hit an outside shot or 2, he'll be doing just fine for what we need.

    b) Although he's starting, he won't get more than 20-25 mins I bet. JVG isn't an idiot--he knows as well as we do what Strick has done shooting the ball. However, it's still smarter to have a true PG starting the game rather than a couple of 2's when you already have a scorer out there in TMac.

    c) Barry coming off the bench still gives us that 6th man punch we need. If the shooting is off, he comes in and gives us a lift. If we need intensity, he brings it in. I think we'd all agree Rod doesn't exactly bring that kinda stuff off the bench.

    d) I expect Barrett to get at least 10 mins in the game...and more if Rod looks especially incompetent.

But basically, you want to disrupt your rotation as little as possible...inserting Rod rather than Barry keeps the rest of the rotation intact essentially. Allows the winning formula to stay pretty similar to what it was.

Trust me when I say that I have complete faith in JVG's decisions. He knows his players far better then we ever could on this board and he does have a plan going into the game. The sky is not falling and we will be fine...:)

Sonics: Fortson to play limited minutes
    by Fanball Staff - Fanball.com
    Tuesday, February 22, 2005

    News
Sonics forward/center Danny Fortson flew to Pittsburgh to spend time with his ill grandmother and did not return in time for Monday's practice, according to the Seattle Times. Head coach Nate McMillan is unsure whether or not Fortson will be back in time for tonight's game in Houston. He elaborated by saying, "Even if he is back, he may not get substantial minutes given the five-days off."

    Views
McMillan has been forced to guess on which Danny Fortson will show up on a given night. One night he'll get the six rebounds and play tough defense, and the next night more chairs will be flying than a Geraldo episode. McMillan has been choosing to go with a rotation of forward Nick Collison and center Vitaly Potapenko in Fortson's absence and unless he can keep his temper under control, expect Fortson's minutes to be sporadic at best.

They've got a bunch of guys that can bang. We only have one border-line PG in Sura.

Thats the first player I thought of who is out there. Seattle is offering them Robert Swift and a pick for Payton. I mean come on, Robert Swift?! we can do better than that. If this is serious and a season ending deal, CD has to make a hard go after Gary Payton.

Thanks, the 2 losses took place on 11/11 and 11/13. Since the trades, and resurgence we're 1-0 without him and 1-0 without Yao. I'm an optomist. :)

No, I was at the game in Houston when we played Orlando. T-mac didn't play that game (in Houston) and we won. I remember my little brother calling me and saying T-Mac wasn't going to play. I didn't believe him and sure enough, he didn't. I was also at the game in Houston when Yao didn't play, that was on New Years Eve and we won. We played the Bucks.

You got it backwards. T-Mac played in Orlando and scored 27 points but he did not play in Houston against Orlando and Yao scored 22 points in that game.
