this gets tiring. Kidd probably dreams of playing alongside Yao, but he doesn't really have any control of the trades he is involved in. if anyone has been paying attention, big names like Ray Allen and KG are being mentioned in possible trades for any combination of Kidd/Carter/Jefferson along with additional players (big men) and draft picks to New Jersey.

there is no freaking way that Rod Thorn just dumps Kidd to Houston for expiring contracts (Sura), bench fodder (Juwan, Bonzi), third tier starters (Alston), non lottery draft picks and a T.E. (which can't even be combined with a player(s) in a trade). you could even throw in Shane, Luther and Snyder to the mix (which would be crazy as believe it or not, at this stage i'm not even sure i would trade Battier for the 34-year-old Kidd straight up), and it still wouldn't be enough for the Nets.

if T-Mac or Yao isn't part of the trade, the conversation is over.

JKidd would be an orgasmic fit on this team, he can rack up assists all day passing to T-mac and Yao and even Luther

He won't be able to pass to Head cuz it's more likely that Head will be a part of the trade if this happens.

    Unless of course it's a turn-over. ;)

Idle speculation to get us all talking.

Yes, such a trade COULD happen. New Jersey would have reached the "let's-blow-it-up" point (might as well, with VC's impending free agency and Jason Kidd still having trade value, ungodly contract notwithstanding).

But it would be a mega-trade. Might even have to involve another team. We'd have to give up Juwan, so we'd have only Chuck Hayes for a PF, so we'd ask for Krstic (spelling?), too, and then we'd have to give up this, that, and the other thing.

The problem is the salary cap

The problem is the Nets don't want to trade Kidd. They want to win now. THey can win the East. When they decide they can't contend and want to rebuild, that's when they'll trade Kidd

They are not rebuilding. THey want to win "now" just like us

The window is closing on Vince Jefferson and Kidd

There is a rumor that a GM inquired about Vince Carter but the Nets asked if the GM wanted Kidd instead. I doubt the Rockets were the ones interested in Carter. I don't know how good of a sportswriter Sam Smith is, but I believe it started with his article from yesterday.

It is strange that they would want to trade Kidd. I don't see any "real" reason for them to do it. It would be a joke if it's because of his divorce. That's nothing, since many people have divorces.

There is no mention of Houston.

The only way we could make it work salary wise is for us to give juwan, bonzi, sura, and alston and NJ wouldn't these guys for kidd especially since juwan and alston have longer contracts.

Kidd is better than Rafer in every aspect of the game except outside shooting. It would be nice, but it really isn't needed. Kidd is still a top 3 PG in the league, and with all the "Rafer sucks" comments goin on around here, I'm surprised more people wouldn't push for such an idea.

I wouldn't want to part with Juwan in such a move though, cause right now he's our lone low post option. I really don't see any piece here I'm willing to part with just to match his salary other than Bob Sura and Padgett.

The idea of Kidd on the team does make me think though.

If we let Yao go to Net, we can get Kidd. It that OK for all of you?

Then trade Rafer for a B+ young center.

dude for this to even happen, its gotta be a pretty big multi team deal to work.

we might HAVE to give up the farm but expect sura and juwan gone for sure.

if theres anyone the nets want, theyre gonna want, its probably juwan and the TE which cant be combined. this trade seriously cant happen

    Two things:

    1) Nets are not contending this season and they know it. Vince is going to walk, Kristic is out for the season and Jefferson clearly needs surgery. Add to that Kidd just beat his wife and his value is higher than its been in years (it's been very low considering his surgery and salary) this is exactly when they can and will trade Kidd.

    2) You call yourselves Rocket fans but act like this is a team that hasn't ripped the team's guts out for an additional superstar countless times in the past. Clyde Drexler, Charles Barkley, Tracy McGrady.... Some even say we tanked to get Hakeem. It is the riskiest type of trade, but it's happened many times before and it could happen again.

Realistically, we could put together a package ridding them of most of his salary. The TE can be used in a 3-way where it goes to a team who sends an expiring contract to New Jersey. So that and Sura is already 8-9M in expiring contracts. You throw in Luther Head and Rafer Alston, you almost have yourself a deal.

It's possible. We'd have to sign a couple of players from the D-league to fill out the roster.

Super-risky. Not sure I'd do it. But don't act like it can never happened because we've seen it before.
