Great to see your name pop up again, GATER. Hope all is well. This took me back to the big Battier/athleticism debate. Lee and Budinger definitely qualify in the athletes department... looking forward to some highlights from those guys. I'm not giving up on Jordan Hill by any means, but I'm not sure Adelman trusts him yet in a big role and I tend to think he'll be dealt by February.
morey is going to be on espn radio here in LA at 4...hopefully i can listen and call in though i cant stand mason and ireland
i think they're just being cautious and more than anything doing it for PR. This way fans expect less to begin with and will be happy everything his minutes go up. Yao's already surpassed Z's initial rehab timeline, i think by 4 or 5 months, so i think he should be ready to be pushed by the all-star break, or late feb.
Sounds like a pretty good proposition with Battier/Yao. Keep them both fresh and maintain some sort of defensive presence on the court. Not to mention we are painfully slow with both of them on the court. I'm not sure what is there to not make you a Morey fan, though. If you go look at what we had on the roster from '05-'07 compared to now, the results are glaring. He just hasn't had the access to a superstar trade like Mcgrady yet. Your sig says you don't like moneyball, but Morey has shown repeatedly it's not just about moneyball. They do want efficiency, but not exclusively. They aren't going to pass up on huge talent just to keep cheaper/efficient players ... no way we would go after Carmelo in this instance. Just because Ferry didn't nab Scola doesn't mean DM can't get credit for getting him for Vassilis freaking Spanoulis. Then you have the Rafer/Lowry trade. Every draft pick other than Dorsey and Taylor has been a rotation player, even late 1st/2nd round picks. He turned a rotting Mcgrady and Landry (one of those rotation 2nd round picks) into a potential 25 ppg scorer (though injury prone, at least he doesn't make $18 million). What else can he do to make you a fan?
