No they make most of their cash on live spots. These live spots are local and with 1560's horrible local ratings compared to 790 it is impossible he took less money. It doesn't void any argument I made either. Buying someone out of their contract cost varies depending on how much time is left. His is new, and was significant. He also DID FAIL in the mornings and afternoons.
It does void your argument. You said they fired Matt and Adam because it would be too expensive to "buy out" Lance's contract. I'm sure Lance makes money, but he and John were getting PAID at 1560, because they had either VP or Director titles in addition to being on air hosts. Everyone he cared about at 1560 was getting canned or resigning, and the entire station was morphing into something he hated. Him not renewing his contract and going to 790 had NOTHING to do with money. Like I said, Matt and Adam were most likely the big time money guys. They weren't fired because Lance makes too much. That's absurd.
I liked Lance with Matt Thomas back when they'd intermingle for 10-20 minute segments. But aside from that, I disagree, I prefer Lance not associating with any of the 790 bunch on air and enjoy when he's paired with a guy like Caplan. Lance can find good co-hosts he excels with, no need to force him into a box with the other 790 bozos.
sorry for the necro bump, but almost a month in and I can't take Lance being paired up with someone not on his talent level. I gave it a try. Today I heard lance z's laugh track( all he does is laugh at lance) mock schaub because of his madden rating. Madden rating! it's like Adam is a jilted forum poster who happens to be on air. yikes. 790 should just let lance do his own thing and have him have special guests like when charlie would go on vacay. Man, I miss wexler. Lance and wexler would have been nice. oh well. =( peace to the gods.
I was chuckling today thinking of Lance coming on and %$#!ing up "5 minutes to go whAT MIGHT WE DOOOOOOOOOOOOO". Every. Time. Agree on Caplan. Was in the car at lunch today and didn't want to listen to Limbaugh so Mohr it was. Should have gone with Limbaugh. Mohr jumps from topic to topic like a dyslexic screamy child.
Alright. One month in, I guess I'll give my take. It's better than 610. But that's not saying much. I like Adam. I like Lance. But I rather have Matt and Adam. Last season, they had this radio spot about our friends reunited. Talking a out the Rockets and Matt and Adam. I trust Lance and Adam to talk Rockets, but I trust Matt and Adam more. I really hate Lance and his caller fan boys. Annoying as ****. Adam has the most annoying fan boy, Reggie who try's to play a homosexual caller. ****ing r****ded.
Mohr was good for one thing and that's introducing me to the Steve Austin Show. Now I listen to those podcasts while he's on until Matt Thomas comes on.
I've listened to Mohr twice, for about 5 mins each time. He's a total loss. It must save 790 a lot of money to air a national show than pay a local guy or two.

Lance and Adam both do this waaay too much; read twitter feeds. I mean it probably takes up about 25% of the show. I didn't even try with more. I hope 790 isn't paying much for him because that is about the only time I switch to 790 Btw. Seth Payne is more listenable than the trenches guys.
One month in, and my 610 (and 1560) listening has increased tenfold. Jay Mohr is an absolute train wreck, the In the Trenches guys are still awful, and Matt Thomas is no longer around during lunchtime to amuse me. (I leave around 9 AM, so I completely miss LZ & AC.) Plus, Meltser and Payne (go Cornell!) are growing on me now. 790 has basically been reduced to just Pallilo for me, which is tragic, given I was a 790-only listener just a month ago. Hope the cost savings was worth it, Clear Channel/790. You screwed up a beautiful thing.
Mohr is unbearable, I rather listen to Rich & Josh. Yes, it is that bad. Lance and Adam hasn't been very good either, which was surprising to me because I enjoyed them independently.
Yeah if it was never for this switch, I would have never discovered Payne and Meltzer. I needed something to hold me over because Mohr sucks and glad I tuned in. They are good.
i dare you to tune into ted johnson's show and drink everytime he uses "at the end of the day." :grin:
I enjoy Lance and Adam, though I still think The Proper Gentlemen of Sports is one of the most embarassingly bad sports talkshow names in the history of the world. I gave Jay Mohr a chance on two different occasions (gave him 20+ minutes each time). The guy really does seem to have super mega ADHD. There was an episode of The Simpsons a while back that made fun of radio personalities that just make dumb jokes and play sound effects constantly, and I swear it sounds like Mohr is TRYING to be those guys, not realizing it was a joke. His voice is awful for radio and he tries to change it every once in a while - I assume for impressions but I have NO idea who he is impersonating. I did what I haven't done in a long time yesterday during the 11-2 pm time frame...I switched to 610. Kind of made me sad.
One month in and I've finally decided to grin and bear it with 610 except on the drive home. I tried. I really like lance, but I can't handle him with Clanton. The twitter feeds drive me crazy. Adams laughing while he reads something that isn't funny to anyone out of third grade, Adam acting like a puppy when lance starts ranting for minutes on end saying the same thing over and over, even using the same analogy but Adam is too in awe To right the ship,,, Yesterday was the final straw. The mocking of the madden ratings, the repeated use of the angry wife metaphor to talk about media asking questions, the long Ed reed rant where he bashes reed for coaching up players while injured and makes fun of his voice over and over...all the while with Clanton laughing or being silent. It's too much. I'm done with 790 until Charlie is on now. I am glad that 790 did this though so everyone else could discover meltzer. He's awesome.
