I used to love Lance, but I'm less of a fan now that he's a mini-scout on the radio. It's cool I guess that he knows so much about the 3rd string corner on the Chiefs, but I could honestly care less about it. I tend to agree with Matt Thomas that discussing D-line technique is stupid and not entertaining at all. Worst of all is when people call in trying to talk about free agent tight ends and the battle for the 53rd spot on the roster. It's stupid and clear that they really don't know anything about it. They're probably the same people who thought that the Texans made a horrible mistake by drafting JJ Watt on draft day. This is not to say that I know better or something, I just think that the average person knows little about football depth and it makes for horrific radio.
^Spot on. That was probably the producers pushing that kinda stuff. Nobody really cares about the N word issue except for the casual fan. I'll tell you something that was super fail on the Matt and Adam show. Opening the show with a bunch of Astros talk. Ain't nobody got time for that at 6 AM. We're trying to stay awake while driving to work.
And to be sure, Lance Zierlein and Adam Clanton will have a GOOD thing going. Adam's laid back enough but still capable enough to do the play by play while Lance will go off on his takes and his impressions...something that no one else in Houston radio has, aside from Adam himself. I love both of their impressions. It will be compelling radio, and I will podcast the entire 3 hrs on days that I am able to. Last year in August I was in China the whole month, and I used to podcast all Lance's shows just to get a feel for where the Texans were in their training camp/preseason games. It kind of gave me a feeling of home when everything else was foreign. I love this international world we live in now. This year it's just been all work all the time, but even then I still make time for good radio.
Oof. Yea talk about the #1 reason why 790 is struggling LOL. They tied themselves to that Titanic of a franchise. I was a HUGE baseball fan until 2005. I quit the Astros when Hunsicker did; okay fine, I stayed around for our World Series trip, but you could quickly see where they were headed when they were run by the two biggest incompetent old-school brown nosers in the industry (Purpura and Wade). Nowadays when CP or anyone else starts talking Astros, I just turn the channel. There's nothing to be done about it. Live and learn, 790. Stop talking about the Astros until they start winning. CP used to be good. Now he just b****es about how he wishes he was in a city with the NHL and "real baseball" now. His carpetbaggery comes out harder than ever when he chooses to argue with anyone who says that the Rockets' championships were legit, pulling out that "not if Michael was playing!" bullcrap. I'm almost done with CP now. He did a HORRIBLE job incorporating Lance.
I have a short commute to work (10 min) but I listened every morning. Loved the show. Will be missed by many
Matt and Adam are more of the evening type, didn't like them when 610 trialed them separately as guest host in the mornings. They shined best when there were Rockets games, listening to them before and after the game was awesome. Hope they find a place to nest, evenings preferably.
Shocked to see the news. I have always liked Matt. He's a Houston guy (actually went to Dulles with me), and his basketball knowledge was the best of all the radio guys in the city. I didn't care for Wex because he would just on and on and was just overly sarcastic. Anyway, the 2 were still a good pair and far better than the trash on 610 in the morning. I'm looking forward to having Lance back in the morning and letting Charlie have his own show again. Clanton is OK but doesn't know enough about sports and thinks he's way too cool. Hope Matt and Adam land on their feet.
Well this sucks. Pretty sure those two guys were the only people on Houston radio that could tell me something about the Rockets that I didn't already know. At least Charlie and Lance won't be stuck together anymore. Charlie doesn't need a partner and Lance seemed like he felt constrained on there. But that doesn't make up for losing all of the quality Rockets talk. Boo.
MattJ, good guy but just don't find him too entertaining. Lance and Charlie together are a good balance to me. Clanton is like Rome light, can't listen very long.

Adam is probably the biggest Rockets fan in Houston media, I am sure you will not miss out on any Rockets talk with him. With his basketball knowledge and Lance's football takes it should be a great show.
uggh, I know that program directors want to avoid the topic, but this is ridiculous. It's like matt and adam went into the witness protection, no mention of them. Not big on Clanton, his football and basketball knowledge is forum based, as in whatever the consensus about a situation is on the forums, that's what he goes with. Lance, love him and I was just getting used to charlie.

Clanton is awesome. He has posted on here as well. Beside he is a huuuuge rockets fan which is awesome. Widely entertaining. In many ways he and lance are similar styles. So now you have a guy who knows a ton of football with a guy that LOVES the rockets. Not a bad combo. I used to get tired and matt and adam's arguments about silly stuff. They're jokes or bits also werent that funny. Clanton is way funny lance is eh....so so funny.
Sarah jessica parker on a mobile...so transparent yet I laughed. Lz/ac should realize they have a narrow shot to make this work; every 790 morning shows have gotten the axe.
